    Mego-inspired.

    Hello to all Megonites!
My name is SuperMego. I have just joined and also just figured out how to post! My 9 year old son just had a birthday and he got all things Mego. I was telling him how I was his age (a little younger) when Megos first hit the toy stores. He's really into fixing up my originals. We're waiting on some repro boxes to make the restorations complete. I told him the only difference between him and I is that I bought only the megos I wanted to play with. I wasn't a collector back then. That's why I don't have any of the female figures. (Except for Uhura (sp?). Santa brought me her one Christmas for some reason. She's in great condition because she wasn't played with like, at all.) I just got a repro figure from Classic TV Toys. They call him "JJ." When I first saw the link I thought it was a repro JJ Arms! I was so excited because the only accessories I have left is his red suitcase with a suction-cup and gun-hand attachment. Needless to say it wasn't the original JJ Arms but a white-haired Bruce Wayne sculpt (I think) with big, black eyebrows. He's kinda like an Action Jackson with black turtle neck, black pants and black combat boots. The JJ logo on his chest is diamond-shaped much like the Action Jackson logo. Very cool. I was even given an extra treat when it came in the mail packaged in just a thin, plastic bag, just like the ones I've seen in the Sears/Roebuck catalog that they used to mail out. I was too young then to order my own but there was something very aesthetically pleasing about getting a Mego through the mail like that.
Well, I hope I didn't bore anyone too bad. I have a lot to talk about and again, am excited to share this wonderful world of Mego with fellow fans. I'm a big Big Jim fan (Wolf Pack, of course) and am excited to think of the possibilities of a repro-run of that line.
Thanks for welcoming me into your Mega. Mego community!

    welcome supermego,,

all manners of mego finery can be found in the museum. Look around and enjoy your stay.
The JJ figure is Jet Jungle, an exciting 'find' in the mego community some years back. CTVT has reproduced that 'find' as a modern figure.

    have a GOOD time

Thanks for the welcome. Thanks to rche for the Jet Jungle back story. I do remember reading about Jet Jungle in one of the Mego collector books I have. Thanks for the link. I didn't mention in my intro that I'm a painter and use the pop culture I was saturated with as a kid (toys, tv shows, movies, comic books, cartoons, etc.) as subject matter for my particular expressive goals. My work is filled with allegory and visual metaphor. It always contains some sort of figure and they resemble the standard Mego action figure (like a Jet Jungle or Action Jackson). When I get some time I'll post some and you can tell me what you think. They're really fun visually and perhaps may remind you of a simpler time in your life when you were able to escape from the world of kid responsibilities and dive into the fantasy world of make-believe with your Megos as the talismans.
