A cool pick up this week was this Canadian-carded Dr. Huer from the Mego Buck Rogers in the 25th Century range. The K-Mart price tag appeals to me even more than the Grand Toys logo.
Around March of 1981, Grand closed out all remaining Mego Black Hole, Star Trek and Buck Rogers inventory at K-Mart stores. I vividly recall it as a kid and the end cap was loaded with some incredibly scarce exclusive figures, all for a buck!
I went home with a Humanoid, S.T.A.R and a few other characters I had trouble finding. What a great memory and what a great reminder.

You never know what you can find at a flea market, nice pick up. I remember about late 90’s a town about a 30 minute ride from me had flea markets every sunday year round. It was a big warehouse type place and each time I went, I looked for anything mego.
I remember one time, this table with toys had a nude Romulan figure just lying there, good condition with tight joints, the price sticker said, mego Mr. Spock, $10 bucks, so who was I to argue. I remember the table had some clothes and accessories too, but no other Romulan items unfortunately. I got home and tossed it in a shoe box with some other Star Trek incomplete figures.Comment

Is that a "Silver" Soldier Ape? Am I seeing things correctly or is it just the color settings on my computer?thumbnail (1).jpgFlea market find today.. The Apes were a FB marketplace find..

Last week I offered $75 and after a 16-minute drive, they were mine. Soldier Ape is missing his gloves and rifle and the Astronaut's string has seen better days. I may need to do some re-stringing on Cornelius but overall, I'm happy with the purchase.
Cool that Cornelius still had his moccasins & The Astronaut had his belt.. They (the figures) look in good shape overall, good score.Last edited by apes3978; May 19, '25, 1:46 AM.Comment

Good POTA pick up, are you going to search for the original Soldier Ape gloves and rifle? the original rifle might be difficult.
$30 for a loose EMCE/Diamond Select Mugato is also a pretty good deal, I have most of the EMCE/DS Trek aliens except for Cheron, hoping to grab one off ebay still sealed on card at a reasonable price.Comment

Found a glow in the dark Nosferatu at a walmart I don't frequent too often. That was pretty cool.Wanted:

Really happy for you! And an excellent score, I think! That white belt for the Astronaut (at a reasonable price, no repro) continues to elude me: jealous!
It's been said many times before by people way more knowledgeable than me about Mego, but it continues to amuse me how many different variations of the soldier ape are extant. In the photo, that one's head sculpt looks like someone just shot his dog. I have one myself where the head sculpt looks like it was made with 50% reference to Zippy the Pinhead. Crazy and funny and weird, and, at least for me, a significant aspect of what makes nostalgia/vintage collecting fun.
