My nostalgia for the first eight Mego WGSH figures went into overdrive with the 50th Anniversary releases. I have faith that Mego will lock down the Marvel license, especially if the DC figures do well (and they seem to be doing well). So that leaves the odd man out:

Tarzan himself is an all orignal Type 1 except for the repro knife. The repro box is from the Toy Room.

Bought this lot of 34 Megos for $48, Future customs for my Svengoolie/Sventoonie.
That was great deal. I keep telling folks what a customizing treasure trove the Target releases were...

I added to my Mego World's Greatest Superheroes collection this week with this excellent boxed Superman. I bought it not because of the later box variation (I only noticed it after the fact) but the Hudson's Bay price tag.
Let me set the frame; when I was eight years old, I was Mego Superhero crazy, fueled by the Challenge of the Superfriends. One problem is that most of my local haunts had two choices: Hulk or Spider-Man. Unfortunately, I had both of those guys. I tried to get my folks to order from Heroes World, but that wasn't very easy at the time.
Hudson's Bay opened a store in the next town, and my mum took me to the opening. Boom! There it was in the toy department; a Mego Superheroes counter display box loaded with characters from the Heroes World ads, Green Arrow! Shazam! Iron Man! My tiny head exploded, and I went home with that Iron Man.
It was a very happy moment in my childhood, and seeing that price tag brought me right back to the moment. To me, this is what collecting is all about, being in those moments.

Thats a good idea. It does bother me but I don't want to ruin it anymore, may have to give it a go!
I use fingernail clippers to trim loose threads. It works pretty well.
