Cool honor, but I agree with Dan

I never heard of these people before --- so to me their opinion means very little.

As far as i'm concerned, Mego's and Mego Museum have been in my hall of fame forever now

I started a Toy Museum 15 years ago. It currently resides in my family room. I inducted Mego a long time ago.

Okay, let me get this straight. There has been a toy and action figure museum with a hall of fame for a couple years and Mego and Star Wars were NOT in it from day one? That's insanity.

Well, my point is obvious, I think. What gives this OK toy museum any more credibiility to decide what the best toys are of all time any more than you or I deciding what to 'induct' into our own collections? Nothing IMO.

I was at the induction, as the museum is not far from my home. Kevin Stark, the curator is a toy designer and great guy with a lot of vison. The museum is in its infancy and Kevin and the museum board hope to add more Mego, as the display right now is very small.

It may not be an "important" institution (yet), but it is truly a labor of love, and well worth a short detour/pitstop if you're going south on I-35 and find yourself with a little extra time.

I was brought in to the Crandall museum recently for the latest induction and then served as some sort of night watchman.

It sounds like a great place with good people, and I wish them all the success in the world. I do not want to take away from that. However, I do not see the significance of them 'inducting' anyone or any toy line arbitrarily into their little venture. It should not bother anyone that Mego was not inducted 2 years ago or if they ever would be.

Not to mention that their really wasn't a Mego 8 inch line, it was really more of a format, much like the 3 3/4" or 12 inch format. If they thought it out, they would have inducted the Mego WGSH line along with the Kenner Star Wars line. Then next year (when they could afford to buy a couple more) they could have inducted Mego Star Trek or Mego POTA, stretching out the process and allowing them to build slowly and methodically. Otherwise its really comparing Apples and Oranges.

The kite, Atari and Raggedy Andy inducted in Toy Hall of Fame

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The Atari 2600 video game system, the kite and Raggedy Andy took their place today in the National Toy Hall of Fame.

The Toy Hall of Fame is located at Rochester's Strong National Museum of Play. Today the latest trio was inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining such playtime favorites as Barbie, Legos, the Slinky, marbles and more than 30 other classic playthings.

Museum officials say the Atari game system, the kite and Raggedy Andy all met the requirements for inclusion in the Toy Hall of Fame -- they're outstanding toys that have engaged multiple generations, inspiring them to learn, create and discover.

The Strong national Museum of Play is home to the world's largest collection of toys and dolls.

I think anyplace that doing something positive is OK. There so much negativity concerning toy collecting/collectors it's nice to see people who are willing to out there do something to try and elevate it.
