    Perfect Megos

I know we like to intersplice our praise for Megos with points about where, although ultimately Mego-charming, they might have done better- oven mitts, Cap's lack of white on his sleeves, let's not even start a Mugato discussion.

BUT given their production techniques, which figures do you think they just nailed? Not which one was your favorite or which one was great because of the flaws, but which one used their production methods to really capture the character.

There are many, but I would suggest-

The Joker- Just stare at him for a while and you can hear imagine his comic book laughter. I think the simple jacket over silk screen really works for this character. Add a pretty cool sculpt and I think you get a really good representation.

Captain Kirk- I realize the outfit wasn't as hard as some others, but adding the boot/lower legs and topping it off with an incredibly Shatner-esque sculpt gives the figure that smirky, arrogant Capt. Kirk charm.

Ace Frehley- I think the doll actually comes under the influence of something. While all the KISS figures benefited from Mego's improved technologies, this sculpt really captures Ace's not-quite-there presence with his slightly parted lips and seemingly upward glance. Peter Criss's sculpt is spot on, too, but I think Mego did a better job with Ace's outfit.

The Black Knight- and maybe that whole series. The armor and the foil swords and the detail - just awesome.

Thor - all the accessories done right - every detail from the comic right done to
a removeable helmet and hair that can be re-posed.

Andorian - great sculpt, simple diamond pattern on the leather piece. Custom
gloves and re-use of the pirate boots.

Your choices are good, I'd agree with the Joker and Thor especially. For a more overlooked choice, I think the Tin Man is very successful in this way, a great sculpt and the use of the jumpsuit with armor fittings is very smart.

Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Cornelius/Galen. I think all of these were made, sculpted and costumed in the true spirit of the characters.

I think that was more rumor. If you look at the face, it has a lot of the imperfections and puffiness that Criss had/has.

Peter Criss doesn't have a cleft chin. The sculpt even has Lex's molded eyebrows. The new sculpts for Ace and Gene don't have eyebrows.

Spider-Man. I mean, sure, there aren't any accessories or anything like that, but what could they have included other than maybe a web? He's perfect as he is.

Conan. He's right up there with Thor for me, maybe even better for the sheer amount of accessories. Removable bracelets, two belts, an axe, and a sword. Does it get any better?

I forgot Burke and Virdon, especially Virdon. Looks just like Ron Harper.

Let's face it, the list of perfect figures is longer than the flawed list
