MEGO Tarzan was a let down in 74

As an adult collector i have a fondness for MEGO'S 8 inch Tarzan but as a kid back in 74 i found him to be a hugh let down, Back in 74 UHF channel 17 was airing the Ron Ely Tarzan series and i watched it everyday so of course when my grandmother saw a Tarzan action figure she brought it for me when i got the figure i was so let down cause he looks nothing like Ron Ely and what was with the outfit? yes i was let down big time, i wanted the Tarzan figure to look like this

You would have thought that, as a kid, I could have easily taken off that flesh-colored outfit that bothered me so much. But somehow it actually ruined the figure for me to the point I rarely played with him.

As a kid, Tarzan to me was the Filmation Tarzan. I was kind of disappointed that he didn't look like the cartoon version. Plus the Flesh bodysuit was kind of lame.
My store in the MEGO MALL!

BUY THE CAPTAIN CANUCK ACTION FIGURE HERE!

I used to love that show. The episode where he got shot, and someone had to dig the bullet out with his knife kind of freaked me out. Wishing for a season's worth of DVDs...

What size is that one? Looks really amazing.

I too was disappointed when I saw the flesh suit version as a kid. Never bought it even though my dad wanted to get me one.
Still don't like it. Looks better on a ZICA body.

                It's a Big Jim body.

I had that Mattel Tarzan, I'd forgotten all about it until I saw this thread! I'm pretty sure he was made on a Big Jim body. I remember really liking that black panther.

you know when I first got into WGSH ... I wasn't too big of a fan of the tarzan figure, I was too young to have had him back in the day. but after getting him in hand ... he's really grown on me. which reminds me I still need a knife for mine LOL

I really wish the Filmation Tarzan series would get released on DVD.

Ron Ely? Filmation version? Man, you guys set the bar too high. When I was a kid I just wanted a Tarzan that looked like Squiggy, then one day Mego made my dreams come true.

You are transparent; I see many things... I see plans within plans.
