According to my discussions with Vinny, it was at least mocked up in the Mego R&D offices. Around the time the Dukes were done the company was in a real cautious mode with Abrams no longer calling the shots.

Wow. I really like it, it has more of a Mego feel than the one that was produced. I got tired of chasing mine pretty quick as a kid. I played with it 'off' and this proto would have been better for the way I used mine. It would be awesome if one ever turns up.

From and engineering point of view, its larger that the Motorize version," WHY"
& how do i know that?
Look at the windows on the door of prototype is one piece window Perfect for get figures in and out ,while the motorized version as a door window and back seat vent windows.

I also dig the painted stripe vs. the tape production version.

does anybody have a photos of the steering wheels from the 8 inch S&H Production car,
and the 3 3/4 Dukes of Hazard , and the world greatest American hero Volkswagen bug,
to see if there are and similarities.

Yeah, i can see why they chose to release the electronic version over this one but I think this kind of car would have been just as popular.

From memory, they are all round and made of plastic.

As a kid I always preferred non-motored stuff to motored. More imagination was used.
                            It's all good!

as a Mopar fan, I am glad they didnt besmirch a Charger by tarting up a Torino!! If they used a charger body...or even used that Duster/Charger hybrid design thing they used for the 33/4" inchers, it would have been ok, but a repurposed Torino...Sacriledge!!!!!
