Jason Lenzi from Bif Bang Pow is very busy these days but had read your comments and wanted me to pass this along to address some of the issues discussed here:
" Hello Museum guests,
Jason Lenzi here, of Bif Bang Pow! I frequent the boards sometimes, and have thought often that I should jump on and start to engage some of you about our action figure specifics. And then I decided not to, because I feel like once I do, I'll be on here all day.
So Brian Heiler has very kindly offered to post this note to you all. Regarding our new retro action figures, first of all, thanks for the enthusiasm. I'd be lying if I said I appreciate all the comments, as there are some that seem to come from a place devoid of the happy spark that made us love all of this stuff to begin with. Regardless, what I wanted to make very clear to everyone, is that we were paying attention before the comments got made.
We do this because we LOVE toys, we LOVE action figures, and we LOVE our childhoods. As with everything we've done, nothing gets past us, we are constantly dissecting the details, and we catch it all. After all, our names are going on these things. I'm like you, I've been burned over and over again by different companies, with liceenses I'd get excited about only to get let down by the final product.
Well, we're not those guys.
We care, we're catching everything, and to get to the point (yeah, will ya Lenzi??), the necks, the translucent heads, all are being taken care of. We're aware of it, but we really wanted to get those images out and about right after the licensing show. Not to be a professor of Toy World 101 here, but there's more at stake for us than pleasing ourselves and the fans. We have retailers to think of, and these samples were brought with us to Licensing Show in Vegas last week, to overwhelming response.
We felt, since we were 80% happy with the pics, we could spread 'em out. Changes are still being made to a few, but for the most part they're finished pieces.
(God, I thought this would be a quick reply, sorry Brian. Now I know what I'm like on the phone.) Anyway, please keep the support coming, this has been a blast for us. And if you DO like what you're seeing, well, let's just say there were a couple of fruitful meetings at that show, and we may be expanding the Bif Bang Pow! retro family. In ways that I KNOW will make many of you happy.
On one more personal note, if any of you are heading to San Diego Comic Con 2010, please come by the Entertainment Earth booth (2343) and say hello. (And that's for positive OR negative comments). So much of this is so arbitrary, and I find the internet so impersonal sometimes, that it means the world to us to have someone take a second and tell us they dig what we're doing. And who knows? Maybe you'll get a 'scoop' or two.
OK, I hope that helps with alot of the speculation weaving it's way around these boards, and also satisfies the request for clarification. My business partner, Jason Labowitz, is great about jumping on here with quick notes, and will continue to do so I'm sure. Thanks for reading, everyone, and for god's sake, stay young and keep collecting!"
