    Palitoy by the numbers

Let's talk about the green back Palitoy cards (I love the art on these badboys). Which is the hardest to obtain and how much do they would go for in the open market. I'm by no means an expert on these cards but I've been around long enough to know a little so this is my top 11 list and price range. Many experts here will have a better knowledge than me so let's hear it!!

    1. Captain America: I heard of one that has been resealed but I've never seen a picture or an auction so I don't know how much is true. It seems to be nonexistant so this has to be the rarist of the Palitoy figures.

    Open Market Value: 15,000 plus

    2. Lizard: I heard that there is 1 out there in the world that is resealed.

Open Market Value: Gotta be 12,000 (due to the auction I saw on eBay last year).

    3. Spider-man: I haven't seen one of these in a long, long time. I can remember seeing a nice mint one at a Boston Convention back in 1998 (dealer had a ton of Mego stuff too). I know some are out there but I've seen this Spidey a lot less than the other figures on this list.

    Open Market Value: 5,000 plus

    4. Human Torch: I've only seen this guy come up a few times and a few dealers out there have him.

    Open Market Value: 2,000 plus

    5. Thing: It's funny, I know this guy is super-tough to get but I've seen him alot through the years. A dealer I know just sold him in C-6 shape for only 800.00. He just always seems to be around and I have no idea why?

    Open Market Value: 1,500 plus

    6. Robin: I've only seen two of these guys over the years. I know these are hard to find.

    Open Market Value: 1,500 plus

    7. Batman: Always looks awesome!!

    Open Market Value: 1,500 plus

    8. Joker: I've seen him alittle less than the Penguin over the years but he sells for much more. I love this figure!!

    Open Market Value: 1,000 plus

    9. Penquin: Not as in demand as the others but from what I've seen he is still tough to find. And even though he is pretty rare, I'm not sure if he can command the price some of the others can.

    Open Market Value: 400.00 plus

    10. Superman: I've seen this card a lot over the years. But Superman is Superman and Superman always sells well!

    Open Market Value: 1,000 plus

    11. Hulk: Awesome card but always available (hopefully your Hulk is not in pieces though). The Hulk is by far the easiest to get thanks to the live action series that was all the rage of the late 70's.

    Open Market Value: 500 plus

I think the Palitoy Thing should be #3 or at least #4.

My favorite cards are Robin, Joker, Torch and Spidey, just for the art alone..! Will never be able to afford the originals, but will get the repo cards someday soon!

In terms of rarity, the green cards are as follows:

            1. Cap
            2. Lizard
            3. Thing
            4. Spidey
            5. Torch
            6. Batman
            7. Penguin
            8. Joker
            9. Superman
            10. Robin
            11. Hulk.

They don't command the same sort of prices they did a few years back though. For instance, the Lizard sold for something like $1500 last year, if my memory serves me correctly.

The Fist Fighter cards, from what I've seen rate:

            1. Superman
            2. Robin
            3. Cap
            4. Batman
            5. Lizard
            6. Spidey

Robin used to be the toughest to find but a few have sprung up over the last 4 years. Price-wise, again, they don't command what they used to, I doubt any would hit the $2500 mark.

Two to three years ago you could still pick up a Hulk carded for £50 (about $75). Haven't seen one for a while though (well not without a stupid unrealistic pricetag).

I paid £92 (about $150 usd) on Ebay before Christmas for this - is that open market?

There's a few Palitoy WGSHs on Ebay at the moment, all AFA cased. It will be interesting to see if the AFA grades make any difference - personally I don't think it will.

If Palitoy Thing just always seems to be around, then I'll buy all you can find.

Palitoy Robin is relatively common; only Hulk is more common. I have seen many Robins sell for no more than $400ish. I would put Hulk at about $150-200 for a nice one.

Why not continue with the 'Elastic Hulk' ID?

I bought a Palitoy Robin a couple fo years ago and I paid no where near that value you listed. I think you overestimated pretty much all of those

So that's what a Palitoy Superman moc looks like with a bit of colour
The one on ebay is really faded.

Not really interested in the Thing but I've seen about 5 within the last two years.

New computer and been loving Superboy Prime lately.

Hey, Dumbldor, didn't you just sell your Mego collection a couple of months ago?
