I agree that the Military scale is 12" predominantly and this isn't a good fit there but still feel there is room for this kind of thing, especially in the gift channels.

While the historical market was a dud for mego, they were marketing to kids, this is specifically for collectors and impulse buyers.

Historic gift shops is the ultimate selling place for figures like this.
I'm telling you, your parents drag you all over the Washington Mall in DC in the middle of the summer, you have every right to whine for a cool action figure in the Lincoln Memorial gift shop, not that educational junk.

I'm surprised the idea of contacting Scholastic Books wasn't brought up. Get together with them and have the dolls listed along with books in their catalogs. I bet you a lot of kids across the country would be asking their parents to buy it for them. Best way to get into schools and sell these bad boys.
The idea came from my daughter who wanted a Abe doll when she did her report on him. I finally got her one off of ebay. That 7" mego knockoff. Great sculpt and outfit too.
Can't wait for the new one. Hope it's tall.

is the year the figure is based on.

Over my dresser is a photo of Lincoln in 1861 side by side with
the last photo taken of him on April 14, 1865. It looks like he
aged 30+ years while in office.

I give Mark a lot of credit for this line. I would love to make

I'm not into history like you, but Lincoln is such an iconic American Figure (as well as Trek Guest Character) that I'd even buy a beardless 'young Abe' figure as well. I remember reading a kid's book bio talking about him being a fine wrestler in his youth and his 'Honest Abe' moniker.

I hope Teddy Roosevelt is next, or some colonials.

I'd take Lincoln and do all kinds of crazy stuff with him. Zombie Lincoln, Astronaut Lincoln, Ghost Lincoln, Disco Lincoln. Lincoln is just fun as heck once you get past the awful tragedy.

stay far from Scholastic, they buy toyetic (Freakazoid references?) items that rot in their warehouses, believe me I used to work there.

on a side note this sculpt is breathtaking! Lincoln is one of my favorite figures in American history. (Pun Intended) But I want a William Howard Taft vs the great White Bathtub! (For non-history buffs, one of the very rare instances of rescue workers coming to the White House to help the President was when rather rotund President Taft actually got stuck in a bathtub!) History may seem boring to some, but little known factoids like this keep it entertaining. Look up James K Polk, or as we called him in school James Kayopectade Polk!!! Will buy a Lincoln OH YEAH!!

I missed the boat on the Obama figure but I'm down for a Lincoln. I wonder if a JFK is on the horizon....a Nixon would be cool too.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Lincoln used a comedic figure, I don't think I'm alone.

                        My next picks would be

                        Washington (of course)
                        Jefferson (Gotta have Jefferson)
Grant (must have a bruiser in the lot)
                        Teddy (that ole rough rider)

                        Also,
A few Presidents that are historic but are unpopular for making figures of.

                        Wilson (Prez during WW1)
                        FDR (Prez during WW2)
Yeah teddy with horse and Spanish/American war uniform variant

There are some assortments planned, but it is not my place to share the details. I think you will be pleased.

The timing of this thread is interesting. I was just chatting on the phone with Mark about it on Monday, and he sent me some pics.

I think this sculpt is amazing.

I, too, am wondering how to get these figures into schools. I think they would be cool to have in history classes. Of course, with all the budget cuts going on, it might be hard to justify in classrooms.

This figure looks to be amazing and I must have him in my collection... mine too would be in with my Trek figures. The sculpt is just breath-taking.
I have to have a JFK as well.

That sculpt is amazing! and it goes to show you that you don't have to be 1/6th scale to get amazing likenesses.... MEGOS's have always been simpler, but that doesn't mean they have to be. This is proof there is a bunch good material out there for our scale (and 9 inchers)... I think this is forshadowing of things to come... I know it's where I want to see it go...
