I thought the same, but one thing that does confuse me is I would expect the 'front/back' seam on the torso to be visible across the wink but it's not - strange.
I have them both with and without the seam. Maybe the mechanism that punched the hole worked with heat and melted the winks out. Maybe in some cases, that got rid of the seam.
