For Everyone that is Unhappy with the Mattel Retro Action DC Figures

I talked to Dr. Mego about it and he said talk to Mattel's customer service. I did.
I have a complaint on file about all of our concerns. I talked to Eric. he said if there is a few of the same type of complaints then something will be done about it. Mattel will even pull samples and check for the wobbly upper bodies, small pelvis, poping out, Pulls in costumes, can't stand up, etc. If Everyone contacts Mattel, then with our volume alone something will have to get done.

I think that's worth doing. When Mattel showed pictures of Mossman in their Masters of the Universe line, there was a huge outcry because his ears were flocked. So Mattel made a running change to the figure. The retro-action line could get the same attention if we just take a page out of the rabid He-man fanboy playbook!

Remember to speak politely and calmly to the Mattel reps on the phone.
They don't know the product that well, and will probably need some
information about which line it is.

After past experience in phone tech support and customer service,
I can tell you that the people that answer the phone will do their
best to note the issues. It is up to management to read them and
      respond.

A little respect can go a long way to getting your point across.

Agreed, enough polite feedback goes a long way.

I will happily tell Mattel about the issues with the rubber bands and these brand "Mego" figures. My GL as well as the GA lifelessly flops over. It feels like a rip off once these figures are taken out of the package. The design system of the bodies perceived as "perfection" has numerous flaws. The only thing holding the majority of the torsos in place are the costumes. The costumers who purchase these and actually remove these from the package will quickly be able to see the factual basis of the complaints aired in all of these forums. Unfortunately it is not merely negativity or attitudes but actual problems with the product being manufactured.

            Agreed,

Eric and I had good interaction and I am calling him back tomorrow with the numbers off of the packaging. i have been in sales and management for about 20 years. A little honesty and respect goes a long way.

I wonder (and this is just me speculating) if some of these problems are connected to
game_city aka superherotoys.com getting an early shipment of wave 1?

My friend - a well-known retailer - asked his Mattel rep why game_city got his
shipment almost two months before anyone else. She said it was a mistake.

I don't know the details but maybe Mattel is still working out assembling the
              bodies correctly?

I thought the same thing. I emailed Game city about my green lantern and he said I can send it back and he wil send me a new one. Inoticed a few others like super hero toys have some in stock. Is it possible that these were not supposed to ship at all? I don't know. It seems the same people in LA get all the exclusives early. I can;t see Mattel not taking notice with these issues especially with all the quality concerns in the toy business as of late. Doc, did you open up the shipment you received? Do you have the same issues?

If the problem was with the on-line retailer...why was there a similar issue with GA? Doc you also received these figures from this particular place. My GL figure is stamped mattel with additional numbers stamped in black on his behind. These seem official as they come. I think the problem is much deeper. I'd say most people who received/purchased these early figures had the same problem.

I wonder, is this going to be an issue resolved production wise down the line or is this going to be something that causes the downfall of this resurgence before it even has a chance to get started. I hope not....man...

I remember in a post Doc made a while back he said that wave 2 would have different bodies. If Mattel can fix the i'm going to puke pose then I think everything will be fine. This seems to be the biggest complaint from everyone. Remember I think we as a group have these way before the public does. Wait untill Mothers and Fathers buy these for their kids and start having these problems. Either they will call and complain and this will get fixed or, They will not buy anymore. I choose to believe Mattel will make good.

I only have Green Arrow so far, but I have no issues with him. He stands just fine, body seems to hold together well and is posable, though the legs don't hold poses to well. It would seem the bodies will be alright if Mattel can keep the quality consistant. There are defective items in every propduct line, and the problems are usually more prevalent early on in the production line. The bugs should get ironed out as things go on hopefully.

The Green Arrow I opened works fine, but I have not had much time lately
to play with him. I got my set from game_city/superherotoys (apparently
the same guy) last Saturday but I didn't open them because I wanted
to display them at Toy Fair in their packaging.

My guy at Mattel didn't know that any wave 1 had shipped yet.

I wanted to chime in that the GA that I opened has been tossed around by my 4 year old son and still stands OK. The thing I noticed is that the Torso is a bit like a T1 in that he does not want to keep a sitting pose. Doc, do you know if the bodies are all coming out of the same facility or could there be more than one location for the assembly? Maybe that could be why some bodies have a problem and some do not? Just a thought.
                            It's all good!

This really is a relevant thread. It's easy to cry about this and that with the style of a figure, but genuine problems with the figures need to be addressed. Nothing disappointed me more as a kid than my toys breaking right after I got them. That's a serious bummer.
