How many figures have you pieced together bit by bit?

I've done a few the 'fun' way including....
FF Batman, FF Robin, RC Batman, T1 Robin, Captain America, both Ape Generals, more than one Soldier Ape, Alan Carter, Paul Morrow, Captain Zantor, 2 or 3 Trek crew.
Sometimes it's taken a couple of years but that's what keeps the hunt exciting.

Off the top of my head, I had to piece together a Romulan, Andorian, Black Beard, Bruce Wayne and a Clark Kent. Super rewarding experiences, it's like getting the figure all over again when you find a part.

I did a lot of empty box buying in the 1990s for my WGSH, which is sort of like piecing a figure together I guess.

I totally agree! I did this with many figures, especially when I first began to collect. I think I put my Batgirl together pretty much one piece at a time.

Pretty much everything I have was pieced together. Makes for a lot of stuff. Just went through my entire collection and have realized it's time to move my doubles and excess. Conan was the first piece I gave up on. Purchased a complete one from a member here, not so much because of the hunt, but because it was simply cheaper than buying all those pieces individually. For example, $80 for a complete Ironman is a feasable find in the Mego world, but it's not unheard of to see boots, gloves, or a belt sell in excess of $20 individually on ebay. with the shipping costs it's just cheaper to buy a complete one than all the pieces loose. I think that changed when toy shows started disappearing. 5 shipping costs tagged onto the total piece can be $30-$40 above the actual items costs. It's not like finding one in a box at a show and grabbing it for a buck anymore. But man for the good ole days. Built an R/C Batman at the Meet last year. Brought back some memories.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I initially thought Conan was my first piece-together, but I realized I had picked up a gloveless Aquaman and RM Robin before that. At some point, I got a lot with 7 green gloves in it. I had no idea they were so hard to come by because that stash allowed me to glove my gloveless figures as they came along.

I think I have the world's biggest naked Mego collection.
That's how I usually start by getting a naked one and then finding all the accessories and clothing. My latest "start" is a Batgirl.
I have the body, suit and one boot so far.

I pieced together my Batman from scratch.

No kidding, it took me about 10 years to finish him.

I was really careful making him 100% all original with no repro parts including original emblem.

I was in no hurry so I waited out the parts one at time until I found prices that were cheap.

I would also upgrade parts over and over through swapping.

In the end I wound up with complete original almost mint Batman Mego with about $15.00 total investment in him.

Makes a person have a really fulfilled feeling doing what I did ...

I recommend everyone try it ... especially to people who's collecting days seem to be waning.

Lili Ledy is a constant exercise in piecing together. I'll usually start out with all repro accessories and upgrade each item as they come along. I've had to learn patience with these figures. As long as there's some frame of reference in keeping them all original, I'm OK with it. As much as I love the rubber Ledy belts, they're usually not appropriate for the Type 1 outfits. Likewise, the belted shorts aren't correct for the Type 3 bodysuits.

One of my most famous piece togethers is Basa Robin. He's the first figure I ever bought back-to-back for the sole purpose of creating an all original.

RC Batman and I'm still working on Andorian and Romulan.
I also pieced together a Batlab and the one I'm most proud of and which is nearly complete is a Wayne Foundation
