Do we re-pay a licensing fee to the Big Two when we re-buy a Mego? No, but that's probably next...

Why should we pay licensing fees for parts for said vintage figures, no longer in production or actively licensed? (And who will sue over a barbarian repro belt: REH or Marvel?)

I encourage vendors to make descriptions as generic as possible for their sakes & ours...
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

This drives me nuts too. Often with vintage Aurora kits on ebay "Kit is 100% complete, except for three missing parts" or "I assembled the puzzle and it is all here except for 2 pieces".
"I am 100% sober, except for the 8 beers I just drank" try that on a cop.

And one day, should you choose to make your own "Nightwing and Flamebird".........."You want a belt? Make it yourself. MAKE IT YOURSELF! Well anyway, that was the last time I talked to my mother."

Perhaps an easier solution would be to have a piece-specific statement/warning under each suspect item (rather than the all-encompassing "hey, maybe there's a bunch of hand-made items out there")? Something like: "DM made/makes a repro of this piece but it's not factory made so be aware".
One piece specifically that came up in my travels is the ape general sword. I saw some on DM site but acc check doesn't mention this at all. That's a commonly missing original piece.

Neither I nor Anthony are trying to open a can of worms or start some sort of war here. We're just trying to make a great place even better. I think we are showing how much we care by pointing out things we find that could cause problems for others (not to mention ourselves).

Where would I draw the line? How could I possibly know who all has made what hand made reproductions? I couldn't really say "Doc Mego, Tom, Dick and Harry all made hand made general knife reproductions." As soon as I did that, someone would be telling me "John, Fred and Scott also made them". Heck, I've made a couple myself. The list would be endless. There just is no way to keep up with everything that EVERYONE has ever reproduced at home. Soon, someone would be mad because they were left out. "Hey, I make a better general knife that Harry, why am I not on Accessory Check?" It would be insane.

As for Doc's reproductions, Doc has at one time or another reproduced EVERYTHING. Really, EVERYTHING. You should always assume that there is a Doc Mego repro of anything that could be on a Mego.

                .....so true...so true

I really was unaware that there are/were any other quality repro parts dealers (other than CTVT)

Honestly I wasn't aware of this. I just figured whatever he has on his site is "the mego repro" and all of the same quality and that if it wasn't on his site then it didn't exist. (with the exception of the CTVT stuff which to me is the only other legitimate repro parts dealer).
I guess this matter is pretty much settled but it's good to get this out in the open so we are all aware of this now.

                    What ghost?

Not to keep this dead horse of a thread going, but I didn't get
the ghost reference until Roberto mentioned MegoMeet, then
I remembered that Ron Stabilio rarely posts, but has made it
                    to every Meet since 2005.
