I personally think they're going to sell very well because bad economy or not superhero people will eat them up.

Nowadays the grown man market probably buys more action figures then the child market -- so the point of kids not liking the packaging is moot.

Famous Covers and DC 9" did well and BOTH of them lines were JUNK.
That proves this line has got to succeed no matter what....

The only thing that might make a slight dent in sales is having exclusives (might turn the general public against the line because in their mind they're getting gouged) ...

--- and a higher then normal selling price --- which will make some people only buy the characters they want, rather then collecting them all.

Which is exactly where I'm sitting on the matter until I see the cost of these.
I'd probably buy Luthor and maybe Green Lantern unless the cost was realistic, then I'd buy them all.

Honestly, I don't personally give a rat's patootie about the box either when taken by itself out of the mix, as I plan on opening them as well, but there are too many unknowns in this line at this point and all the changes have me concerned when taken as a whole.

Say you like the Luthor but don't like the new body. You can pop off the head, take off the outfit and put them on a Doc Mego body and you've got "your" figure the re-Mego you really want. That's probably what I'll do.[/QUOTE]

Exactly!..I've planned to buy multiples from day one for this reason.

Of course, I'm hoping that the heads & suits are truly removeable and, suit-wise, not lycra...
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I appreciate everyone's comments - after years of interacting with this
community, my skin is pretty thick.

The name change was over legal concerns and in the interests of the
overall strategy for this line. I'm sorry some people were disappointed
            by it.

As I said previously, some people like the card design, some don't. EMCE
gave Mattel our input, and we will continue to. I am very proud of the
work we have done with Mattel and hope you guys will enjoy them too.

In order to play with someone else's properties, you have to play by their
rules. Sometimes it's both of you wanting to do the same thing, sometimes
it's not. Overall I am very pleased with how these figures came out and
look forward to seeing this line continue.

Please remember that these forums are public and these messages can
be read by people who may not appreciate customizers peddling their wares.

              Paul,
I'm not thrilled with the name change, but I knew from day one that was gonna be inevitable. But why the generic font for GA's name and why so much open space on the back of the card? Can you elaborate on that?

Doc, I just want to thank you again for making this happen. You are the man.

Like the packaging or not these are new superhero mego's that we have always wanted to see back on the shelf.

So I say : Hell yeah!! Bring 'em on! I'm pumped

I was wondering if there was a copyright issue on the name? I just watched the new Fantastic Four cartoon and the title is "Fantastic Four: The World's Greatest Heroes"
sigpic "It's like you're unravelling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting..."

As for the blank space on the back of the card - toy regulations now
demand the manufacturer writes his address and the address of his
                    factory on the package.

Look at all the writing on one of the DCU blisters on the bottom of
the figure. I will try to scan one tonight and post it.

IMO, a better name change would have been "Official World's Greatest DC Heroes", and if they wanted to use Retro Action they could have just added that to the back somewhere. "The 8" Retro Action Series" or something.

Doc, you have done amazing things over the last few years. Any constructive criticism I give is just my opinion, and not directed solely at you, or meant to cut you or anyone down. I know that there is no way you could get everything your way when dealing with both Mattel and DC. Bottom line, I am thankful as a whole. Keep bringing back the past!

Here is the bottom of the DC Universe Green Arrow figure.
All that information has to fit on the back of the blister card.

So the card on mattycollector is also a prototype. Does that mean the generic font for GA's name will be changed as well on the final card?

DC Comics reviews every detail of each figure - including packaging.
If the generic font stays on the card, then DC approved it.
