Super7 to make Micronuats

Ahhh, I'm so jealous. I'm really curious about these. I've wanted a Karza in this scale since I was 7.

So, can I pick your brain for a minute about this, Brian?

Karza, to me, is supposed to be massive. He's clearly INSPIRED by Darth Vader, but I always saw him more like Darkseid. Built like a tank. But then, Darkseid can alter his size at will, so I guess I can see it.

You say you've wanted a smaller scale version since you were younger, and the more I look at these, the more I'm seeing the potential. But can you explain why a smaller version appealed to you at an early age?

as a side note, I've seen folks customizing these. Someone took one of the tiny figures from the stasis pods (the ones that would pop up when you flicked the lever on the pod) and placed it in the chest of the Biotron and it looks fantastic.

While these figures aren't for me, I am of the mind that these inferior Micronauts are better than NO Micronauts.

I will definitely be buying the ReAction+ Baron Karza. I loved the Micronauts as a kid in the 1970s, as well as the Marvel comics adaptation/extrapolation. But I could never understand why Baron Karza (and Force Commander) was so much bigger than the 'regular' Micronauts, like Time Traveller and Pharoid. And he wasn't depicted out-of-scale in the comic books, either. Now I know why that happened with the toys. But I have long wanted a 'same scale' Baron Karza.

Biotron is a different story for me personally. I still have my Biotron from the 1970s. I was fine with Biotron being bigger than the 'regular' Micronauts as a kid. So I don't have the same thrilled, "I can't believe someone finally fixed this!" feel about the ReAction+Biotron that I do about the Baron Karza. That said, I am likely to buy the Biotron eventually anyway, in hopes that my individual purchase may in some tiny incremental way encourage Super7 to keep making ReAction+ Micronauts figures.

Awesome! I'm still on the fence, I'm hoping to see one in person at a local show this spring to look at first hand and make up my mind.

It took me a minute to process what you're saying, to me, ROM is owned by Hasbro but I guess a lot of those issues took place in the MCU.

Both series were tied up in rights issues for a long, long time and couldn't be reprinted (and things like Marvel Two-in-One 99 which featured Thing and Rom were omitted from collections of Two-in-One and unavailable on the Marvel Unlimited service) or used in new stories. There were attempts to do end arounds-Marvel's ROM-less Space Knights series for example-but nothing seemed to stick. . It was thought to be a Gordian knot of rights issues that would never be sorted. Similar were the rights to Master of Kung Fu because of the Fu Manchu elements and issues with the Sax Rohmer estate, Marvel/Disney eventually decided the money to be made via reprints and access to the content and IP were worth the trouble of sorting it all out, and it did get done. The exact details of the agreements as to how they cut the Gordian knot haven't been revealed but it seems both parties can now use the content and IP involved. How the money sharing shakes out, I have no idea, I'm just happy to see movement on the issue and the characters back in play in some fashion.

The exact details of the deal were not revealed iirc, so it's any body's guess, but it seems likely that might be part of it.

On the Biotron packaging it says, "Commander Arcturus Rann's Personal Assistant". Doesn't Marvel own the copyright to that name and the characters they created for their original series?

Do these appeal to me as a Micronaughts collector? No. But I think they will appeal to Reaction collectors who like/have memories of the line. I don't collect the Reaction line but the collections I've seen of those who do are fun. Where else are you going to see TMNT's, SilverHawks, Muppets, Monsters, and Ron Swanson all in the same scale? That's fun. As a kid scale was why I was less interested in SMDM, Big Jim, and even the 12" scale Megos - my largest collection was 8" scale Megos and if I was going to add new characters I wanted them to fit into that world. Later I added 3.75" figures with CAH, Micronaughts, Battlestar Galactica, and Star Wars. So I only really cared about two scales. With reaction figures everyone, and by the time they're done they may indeed have everyone, can mingle at the same cocktail party. In the end I may regret not getting the figures that appeal to me including the Micronaught versions but for now I remain mostly a vintage collector.

The other thing is that this is S7 and they will likely make Ultimates and some kind of vinyls and oversized figure from the property as well. Reaction is "first step" to a large rollout of product line. I wouldn't be shocked if we see a variety of product from them in different scales and articulation schematics over the next couple of years.

I could see them making some larger pieces under their Super Cyborg line that could be displayed with these Reactions. Much the same way Tiamat is a Super Size figure that they're pushing as something that can be displayed with their Ultimates D&D line.

Ultimates of Baron Karza and the like would be pretty neat. I can resist such a purchase but I could see those being really cool.
