Hi all. I joined a little while ago, but haven't posted yet. I don't have a real Mego collection...just the original Trek figures and some Apes I recently picked up. But I have a question. My Star Trek figures...I got them back when they first came out and I noticed them getting darker in color. They all seem to have heavy tans now. Is this normal for these figures? I keep them in a collection in my basement, so they get no sun exposure. I was just wondering why this is happening and if it's normal for these things. Thanks all.

Welcome! best online Mego community in the land! Some of the figures have a make of plastic that seems to darken or even "zombie" over time. I have seen hundreds of emails over the last 12 years explaining why this happens but am not a chemist so forgive me for nto offering further details. Someone more than once (I am not saying to do this) recommended using some kind of tire cleaner or the like and it removed the zombieness.

After coming to this site and forums, you're "not a real Mego collection" will become an addictive sleep-avoiding habit and you will feel the urge to collect Megos..more and more of them..and they just keep coming and coming and it never stops..OH WILL THE MADNESS NEVER END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????Comment

Sounds like a real Mego collection to me. It doesn't matter if you have 3 or 100 Megos the madness never ends! Welcome and enjoy your stay!
Here's how you can de-grey your Mego heads when they "zombie" but I've never heard of trying it out on the bodies.

Glad to have you aboard.
I know what you mean. I've noticed some of my original Type 2s seem darker than when they were new. As long as they aren't zombie-gray I wouldn't worry too much about it. Be grateful you still have some of your original Megos as there are plenty of guys here that wish they were so lucky.
