I LOVE the ad, not too crazy about the little circle pictures from the 80's...I'd rather more 70's art. Can't friggin' wait to buy all of them.

I'm sure I'll get slammed for this but if that's anywhere near the final card art....well, it sucks...I'm all for giving some DC lovin' to the great artwork of Garcia-Lopez but those circle cameo pics reek of Super Powers. They should have used the old-school Neal Adams artwork. It fits the retro-release of the figures while still being on-model for today's corporate DC.
And I understand the concept behind that "weathered" look but that looks like it's been in a fire-sale.
Just my 2-cents.....Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

^ That being said.....the Green Arrow figure is pretty slick looking! Kudos for that!Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I love the Garcia Lopez art but I gotta agree it should probably be 70s art. Not crazy about the "weathering". I never liked the idea with guitars, jeans, cars, etc... Definitely not feeling the love for the WGSH "weathered" card. That said, it will NOT stop me from buying them. The card is scondary to me. I'll probably open them all anyway or get 2 of each.
I have to ask, why does GA have Mego style boots? His boots never had the pointed top in the comics. They should be the same as GLs. Here's a chance for Mego's cost cutting to be rectified. Just an observation. Again, I'll still get him.I couldn't be more excited to see this.

The ad is very exciting, but I too am not "wowed" by the weathered look. I guess it is because I know most of my Megos did not come in beat up packaging. Also, I should point out, too, that the new figures could be put onto blank cards and I'd still get themIt's all good!Comment

Cool, and I didn't even notice the weathering till you guys mentioned it.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

First of all, as a graphic artist, that's a very well done ad. Taking the recognizable card style and putting a big beautiful shot of the GA figure there was a genius move.
As an amateur comic art historian though, the use of the Garcia Lopez artwork is a bit disappointing. That artwork was originally created in 1982, they year Mego stopped the WGSH line. I suppose if you think of this series as if Mego never stopped, and reissued new WGSH, including updated figures, it makes sense. But I honestly think it's because DC's marketing dept. won't allow artwork older than that on packaging, unless it's all the way back to the Golden Age. The Garcia Lopez "Super Powers"-era work is used to represent Silver and Bronze Age on DC-licensed product nowadays, even though there is boat loads of great Infantino, Adams, Murphy Anderson, Swan and Gil Kane artwork just dying to be used again.
The weathered look doesn't bother me too much. It's a design choice that isn't right or wrong. I can see it miffing people though.
But all that aside, WOW, it's great, and unbelievable that this is happening! As long as Mattel follows through with quality production, then we are in for a treat. Thanks to the guys here who made it happen!!!
