Bif Bang Pow! unveils 8" Flash Gordon Movie figure at SDCC
Looks great, Dave. Who's the source of the great package artwork?
The artwork was fairly easy, the guys a BBP had a clear idea of what they wanted, so I helmed to keep it simple. The layout they wanted was real classic MEGO, the lightening bubbles were my little brainchild, and I lifted the heads from the movie poster (Flash had to be re-done to remove the background). The water mark is from a Australian/British cracker company (Weetabix) that put out promotion cards in 1980, that BBP really liked. I took the art work and made it a "brush" in photoshop, which allowed me to watermark it on the front with a monochrome scheme. The back is actually the Japanese movie poster (my idea), cropped down and reversed with some photoshop magic. All in all about two hours worth of work, I was inspired to get 'er done!
Very Nice, it looks a similar the one i'm finishing up now.
I started making a Vultan using the CTVT Mentor head and a pair of Doc Mego wings but the costume and helmet were a bit awkward so i'd love to get an official figure.
I like the non-shiny version better. by the way, what's up with the boots on the prototype (I like 'em)... those look different than standard castaway boots?

Yassir... thems DC's pleather creations, over our boot feet (though no pictured that way).... we are hoping the factory can faithfully reproduce Dereks fantastic handiwork...
yeah the Shiny version looks more like a Michael Jackson tribute from the 80's or he's heading to the " club" before he puts his hand in the rock thing.
Man, first the Phantom, now Flash Gordon (which I'm buyin'; Ming too!) - any chance of more King Features figures? Mandrake for the Defenders of the Earth trifecta, mayhaps?
Howsabout a Prince Valiant figure?
Oh, Cast-A-Way Toys! How I love thee!
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."
