I have a bunch of these! Some I bought in TRU when they first came out, some I got from a toy show, and a lot of them I got from Damien! (toys2cool). Remember Damien? You even sent me an extra cowgirl Deanna Troi from "Fistful Of Datas"."Do you believe, you believe in magic?

why not go mego scale
I think they decided to go bigger because it made it easier to do
detailing on accessories and faces. Big Jim and Aurora model kits
were that size and were popular. Most toy companies want to make their products look new and different - unless they are purposely trying to imitate.
Toy companies don't care if your collection doesn't display well together.
As for the original series aliens in 1994 - those were seen as cheap
and embarassing to Paramount.
I stopped after Kirk and Spock. Couldn't get into the 9 inch scale and couldn't really grasp why they tried to make Mego like figures but not actually make them in Mego scale.
Same with the Famous Covers, if you are going for that retro Mego style it makes no bloody sense to not actually go that extra little bit and make them true Mego size. I still can't wrap my mind around that.Comment

I recently got a hold of a Bele figure. I haven't taken him out of the packaging yet, so never had any reason to notice any lack of articulation in the waist and wrists.
It's a bit hard to tell in this scale, but it is a rather good likeness to Frank Gorshin's portrayal, and I like the fabric choice for the costume.
I'll probably never part with him, but I'll also probably never collect any of the others.
I hope that Doc does redo the Cheron character. The original Mego lacked any real resemblance to either character, and the sculpt was very blah. That and the costume was a real downer.JediJaidaComment

I still have most of them. The only thing that bothers me are the hands, which look weird. Still hoping to pick up a Kirk in TWOK uniform....

The bodies are horrible, on par with the ones from Exclusive Premiere. No wrist, waist or ankle articulation and molded on boots. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

No joke! I got a MIB casual shirt Kirk for like $10 off a seller on Amazon. I really only have him and Spock from TOS in the 9" scale, but I've loaded up quite a sit on the 1/6 ones. I still need the large Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, and the Gorn--think I'm passing on the Mugatu. For the time they were made, they weren't bad. I'd like to see Sideshow take a shot at making them now, though. We could use an update with better sculpts.Comment

Sorry - so, has anyone ever tried using the on these figures with mego's? A bit of sewing and the like and it seems to me they could work...no? Just curious since I know it HAS to have been tried and I would just buy the Playmates versions for the detail in the tunics and accessories...
THANKS!!!Comment

Not for those two figures it wasn't.
Mego did excellent likenesses for Kirk, Spock and McCoy.
Why couldn't they have done something similar for the Cheron figure??
They could have done both Lou Antonio and Frank Gorshin; the only difference being which side of the face was white and/or black.JediJaidaComment
