When I first saw them, I thought they were really cool. They were the closest thing to new Megos in a long time, I ended up buying a few just for that reason. But I'm not a huge Trek fan, so I ended up selling them, luckily before the floor dropped out on the market for them. Think I made a bit of a profit actually. But that was now 17 years ago?? Damn I'm getting old.

i slowly bought a few on ebay, then ran into a guy who'd cleared out a storage unit and found dozens of them, unopened. so i met him in the parking lot of a bookstore (sounds pretty dirty, i know,) paid him $200 and got over 50 of the figures to finish out my collection.

I didn't have the means to get to a lot of stores when I was a kid, so my Megos were always gifts. When the Playmates 9" came out, "the hunt" was a big reason I collected them, along with the fresh interest in Trek that TNG gave me.

I've got them all in box, and quite a few doubles loose. Yeah, the market has really dumped (the KB exclusives especially), but there is still a decent interest in them on eBay, moreso than their pathetic 5" brothers, anyway. You can still fetch a price worth your while if you put together a nice lot, either boxed or loose..

I have all of these loose. I love them so much I even did some customs. More than 100 in all. The bodies are not break, but look pretty good displayed on a shelf.

I'd like to get "A Piece of the Action" set again. I think I have all the 12" figures MIB somewhere in storage.

I like them as custom fodder to make Lost in Space customs to go with the Trendmasters figures. The bodys are very similar.
For Star Trek though, I have to go Mego !

i like these figures ,i wanted to collect new megos ( which you can now ,with retros)but there wasnt any at the time ,and yes the bodies sucked ,i like star trek and collected all the small ones and the "9" from all the shows & movies ,playmates did a wonderful job ,on some like kirk & picard they looked fantastic and on many others ,some were awful like dr. basheir & maj kira ,megos and retro megos i think are better, but for what its worth, these were cool

When working on Picard's uniform for the new Next Gen megos, I pulled out
a Playmates 9 inch Ricker and stripped it. The costume was not two color
fabrics sewn together - it was red fabric with the black silkscreened over
the red. The outfit we made was much better.
