      yeah right!
Man, I dig those vintage price stickers and try hard to get MOC/MIB with them on. Then I REALLY get to pretend I'm living in the past

Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
        Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

I never open my carded Megos. I have had no trouble finding them in good loose condition for when I want a nice loose specimen. As Brian said, if there's a figure you have carded that you'd prefer to have loose, you can find someone who'd gladly trade you an opened one, and then some! Even with the so-called "common" carded figures, I think it's best to leave them sealed.

Although some figures seem to be more common sealed than loose. For example I see way more carded Little Rascals for sale than loose. Plus at least you know it's complete carded even if those little legs might be broken, LOL.

I would NEVER open a vintage figure, unless the packaging was completely wasted. There are plenty of loose figures out there. Pass the MOC examples onto a collector that will appreciate them.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Yesterday I bought a couple of carded vintage Star Wars Klaatus (different robe variations) with the intention of opening the one that is the variant to the other loose one I already have. Now I have them home I can't bring myself to do it. They cost me a fraction more than a good loose one would cost so the financial loss is minimal, but somehow it just doesn't seem right right to open it, a dilemma that never bothered me with the Megos I have opened. I opened a carded Chopper on a beat-up card to complete my set of loose S&H. I already had a set MOC. It felt great to release him after all these years. Of course I won't do that with any mint carded figures, regardless of who it was.
