That body is closer to Famous Covers and Hasbro's 9 inch body than it is to Mego's.

It very nice sculpting - don't get me wrong - and we can argue all day about what
Mego could have developed in the 80s and 90s - but based on the 6 inch Lion Rock
body and the 12 inch body - it doesn't seem like the company designers would have
moved to the hard-cut, martial arts style of body that you have made.

When making my toy body I avoided making sculpting changes because I wasn't
trying to build a better mousetrap, I was looking to mimic Mego's look.

The blue body would be good for some kind of monster figure

That body looks pretty nice, but I have to agree with the Dr. here. Looks way more Famous Covers, and personally, too muscular for me. I like my super heroes the way they looked before they started hittin' the roids. That goes for toys and comics.

As for a Mego type 3, unless it were something as simple as swivel biceps, I don't have much interest. I like them the way they are.

Type 1 and Type 2 isn't even real Mego terms ... right ?
It's just a name made up afterwards by collectors.
If so, the terms really don't mean anything anyway.

ABMAC coined those terms if my history is correct. And no, it doesn't matter. Doc's bodies are designed as replacements for Mego's and John's are designed as progressive in scale substitutes for modern day customs (at least in my eyes). Personally I'd want something in between if I had my druthers. More posable like John's without the over the top comic book cut to the muscles, yet chiseled and buff enough to look like they could actually be superheroes, not just a well toned Johnboy Walton.

I dont mean to highjack this thread but I just want to nip any confusion right here and now, in the bud.
What a bunch of malarkey. Your body has NOTHING to do with MEGO. If there was indeed an official new MEGO body design, collectors could call it anything they wanted including "type 3" irregardless of whatever you call yours....

...I'm glad somebody else brought this up...I've had the same suspicions, but didnt want to say anything for fear of jinxing it, or bringing the "Wrath of Clarke" down upon me!!!

I just hope it all comes true, and in February we can finally stop holding our breath and unclench our crossed fingers......

I agree 100% with everything you said and as for the "Mego Type 3" body I theorized; you hit the nail on the head.
Basically the next step that they would've taken had they improved the design.
I really like the LJN swivel biceps and that would be an improvement. Perhaps a little swivel ankle as well and a ball-joint neck.

Whoa! Hold up folks. No one said any "new Mego" produced figures, if any do get made, are gonna have a new body type to start with. Type 1 and 2 are just terms collectors came up with to distinguish the differences. Why would Marty or anyone associated with any forthcoming projects fight over the use of the term Type 3? Let John have his name.
