New to Mego. Just found a treasure. What to do?

Hi all, I'm new to the "Mego World" so be gentle I was helping a friend clear out the attic of a house that he had purchased at auction. The woman that had lived there had no family when she passed so no one had cleared the attic. I opened an old, dusty box and found ALL SIX of the Mego Star Trek line, new in unopened packages. Kirk, Spock, Mccoy, Uhura, Scotty, & Klingon. They all look as new as the day they were made. My friend gave them to me to thank me for helping him. I don't really know much about Mego but I'm very curious. I know that they're not really rare, and I'm not trying to sell them. I just want to KNOW about them. They all have "Target" price tags on them ($1.99-$2.99). I didn't know that they even HAD Target's back then. I've noticed looking on eBay and such that most people won't take the price stickers off. I was going to pull them off of mine because I though that they would look better, but now I'm not sure. Should I keep them on the packages? Is that better for some reason? Even though these are not rare is it worth having them "graded" by someone? Or is that just a waste of time/money for something like this? If anyone has any cool info about these pretty little things I'd love to hear it. Thanks all.

spidey7 leave the price sticker son. one of the problems taking the price off is they ear the grphics. i like the stickers because they show how they really were back in the 70's. the ones you have should have be type two the later version if they all came out when lt uhura did. would love to see pictures of thefigures. mike

Well, since you're new I guess I should be the one to fill you in on the tradition.
See, the first member that explains the tradition to the new member is entitled to pick two of the new member's Megos for free.
SO I need Uhura & Klingon.
Just let me know when you can get these mailed out to me.
Seeing as I'm a nice guy I'll even break tradition and send you the postage.
You don't have to worry about taking the price tags off those two then.

Of course if you say "olly-olly-oxen-free" then that negates your obligation.

Very Awesome find. Getting them graded is Pricey, so I would say no. But If you want, there are people that sell Clear Acrylic Cases. I have alot of my MEGOs in Cases. They Look really Cool.

Keep 'em carded and keep the price sticker on them. These are so easy to find that if you want loose figures you can get them dirt cheap on eBay. Oh, I wouldn't waste my money grading them

Congrats on the great find. As others have said keep them in the packages with the price sticker on.
As far as grading them I'd not bother. Unlike comics graded action figures is not such a big deal. Opinions vary as to if it increases the value or is just a bunch of crap with the AFA system not being looked highly upon. Enjoy your new find!

Dust them off and put them in the clear acrylic cases. If you really want to play and pose them you can buy loose ones on ebay, reproduction accessories or the new Retro Cloth figures from EMCE.

Congrats on your find and welcome to the Museum.

Congrats on the new figures and welcome to the Museum.

I'd leave those packaged and leave the stickers on. As was pointed out, the risk of damage to the package is too great. IMO, they look better with price tags than with torn packaging.

welcome, what you have found there is a little bit of toy history, history is something that has passed and cant be changed, leave them as they were intended... and enjoy a happy future with them

or you could put them in the marketplace and make a mint

I think you should keep them exactly as you found them with the exception of maybe putting them in acrylic cases.

Do the cards show 6 characters on the front with Uhura or just 5 charactes without her? The 5 figure cards (without Uhura) are older but the sixes are still awesome.

I think you'll find that Kirk, Spock, and Klingon are worth about $40-$65 on Ebay and McCoy and Scottie can go for $80-$100 or so. Uhura seems to fluctuate the most in my opinion between about $30-$60 depending on the day.

Hope that helps. Opinions may vary I'm sure but that's my two cents.
