Mego of the Day: Captain Koenig

Besides the great head sculpts of the 1999's line, the uniform's deserve kudo's as well.

IMO, quite possibly the best Mego 8" uniforms ever produced for a line.

I prefer the Trek uniforms...and their phaser/communicator is much cooler than that giant yellow belt and comlock.

I'd love to have one of these some day. Its a great looking figure and I am a Space 1999 fan. Just watched the Dragons Domain episode this morning.

I have a set of the Mattel figures as well as the CTVT set. So disappointing that there wasn't a Russell and Koenig made. Anyone have a painted Koenig head to sell?

I have none of the figures now but as a kid had one.I loved the show then and would love to get the figures now that I have completed the trek line(Almost there are customs I want to do).
When I was a kid me and my buddy used to have some guns from the outside garden hose that we used as 1999 guns.

One of my personal favourites. It was a momentous day when I finally got one. I thought i'd never get one, but have had two now, both fully complete in hidden auctions. I pinched the comlock off my last one for my Alan Carter and still sold him on for twice what I paid.

Along with the Romulan helmet, Koenigs jersey is one of my favourite items of clothing - very striking.

I only ever saw one as a kid - a friend got one for his birthday so I guess it must have been around 1976/77 (there is a chance it was Paul Morrow, but I do remember the contrasting sleeve)

And finally a tip - You guys that want one need to check the `.co.uk` version of Ebay for those that are only listed in the UK (but don't tell anyone I told you ) and be patient.

No mention of Mego, or in this case Palitoy in the auction listing. I'm guessing that if you are looking for a Mego Joker you would type in `Mego Joker` into Ebay. You have to think outside the box, just type in `Joker` and trawl through the many hundreds of items - eventually you will find one without Mego been mentioned and probably snag it for a fraction of the usual cost.

This is how I fund my hobby - trawl, buy low, sell high with more information. Most of us do it.

Oh yeah, Ive done that. Sometimes they misspell things too. (Mago) Or have it in a lot of odd things. or have in wrong category. etc. Takes a lot longer but sometimes stumble on something good.

When I learned that MEGO had made SPACE:1999 figures I was royally p****d off !!!

I was a huge fan of the show when it originally aired and having MEGO figures
to play with would have been icing on the cake.

I had to settle for the Mattel figures that were available in this country.

Repro heads and accessories for the line is what got me seriously interested
in MEGO customizing.

I was happy when CTVT reproduced them and added figures but I'm more
than aware of their quality short commings.
