No that I have a camer again here are the pics I promised of a wagon cage I made as a kid. It's still in need a of a good cleaning, part of the front is coming apart.
I made this out of various parts, the cage is made from the wooden slats from kites. The base of the cage is from an old child's bench. I don't know where the back wheels came from but the front are from, I think, some G.I.JOE toy. The black seat padding I had gotten from my brother. It was something he used to line the draws of his tool chest with. I had also used the same stuff for the leather on the General Ursus helmet I made and leather patches on the Ape Minister.
Since it was made of wood it took 4 "Action Stalions" to pull it.
      Note the sliding door lock.

That's incredible...even more incredible considering a kid made it 30 years ago. These have to be the oldest surviving Mego customs.

That's very cool. Mego really should have made something just like that. I'm surprised they didn't. What you made is far more movie accurate than the Throne or Battering Ram.

Scott, don't clean up the wagon. It looks perfect with dust from the Forbidden Zone.

Let me just say that these were the days before VCR...so you REALLY were paying attention. I can't believe how movie-accurate it is!! It's so super cool and wonderful....just so perfectly yummilicious...

                    Dear Scott,

I am woefully late to the game on this thread, and I apologize. But I want to add:

This is the COOLEST MEGO STORY I have every heard. And trust me: While researching the Mego book, I've heard a few doozies. Yet, nothing I ever heard can compare to your story.

I say that because your story is special on multiple levels: First, it is a wonderful story about an incredibly creative young spirit. Your life-passion revealed itself at a very early age, and you miraculously embraced the moment. A hard-core PoTA fan is born.

Next, you had the presence of mind to PRESERVE your wonderful story. Keeping the shipping box in which Mego shipped your custom-made PoTA costume?! These are not just "memories" from your youth; you have a closet filled with actual artifacts from your Mego adventures. Your prescience is unreal.

Finally, your story is a ringing endorsement of the company we all know and love (frankly, "revere" is a better word). The fact that both Neal Kublan (RIP) and Vinny Baiera took time to include you in their magical (if flawed) universe speaks volumes about the dedication and love the original Mego creative team put into their work.

This is exactly the kind of story I love to hear. Mego had so many problems, legal issues and public embarrassments, your story is a welcome counter-balance to any such negativity.

A hearty welcome to the Mego Museum, Scott. You are my new hero.

If this thread doesn't inspire Ben to do a sequel to his book, I don't know what will.

Everyone here is so amazingly generous and kind. It's weird, I was just doing what came naturally and out of the lack of funds of the day to get more out of my Megos.
I'm still searching for some photos that I took way-back-when of items no longer around. I know I had documented the ampitheater (like the one seen in both PLANET and BENEATH), and there's the Armory (which turned into Mego's THE FORTRESS). As soon as I find them I will post them. There over 30yrs of stuff in the house packed away that I need to wade through.

I just wanted to say your "Minister" and mine must have had the same tailor.. I once made a robe very similar to what you made... But, unlike you, I have nothing to show of it... It's long gone...
