I'm just amazed at what I've been seeing and reading here. Great stuff. And welcome, from one Scott to another.

I dug it all out for you! Here what the female ape of 3955AD had in her home (no doubt paid by the Simeon council for her to keep her mouth shut.
The is the oven/stove. The stove (on top) has a piece of stone to keep the oven heat when in use (oven door is closed) On the bottom is a place to kindle wood for heat.
Next up is another view of this modern appliance. Now show without the oven door and minus the stove lid. This allows heat to travel upward to the stove. Note: wood at the bottom for the fire.
A Kitchen isn't a kitchen without a sink and place to keep extra bowls.
This selection rounds out the home to make it that much more homier. Shelves, oval room divider (there used to be 3 which when placed side-side made a room divider. The smaller item on the right is a foot stool. Oh, and the book on top of the shelf has hand written excerpts from the sacred scrolls.
Finally, a shot of the back of Zira apron. Actually I made this for when she conducted experimental surgery on humans, but I thought it looked good here in the kitchen.

I have been away for a few months and this is the first thread I have come to and I've spent all day off and on viewing it!
Welcome! Glad to make your acquaintance!
My Lord, what else do you have up your sleeve? You just keep pulling rabbits out of your hat! Your photos are excellent and I am soooo glad you made it here.
I am also soooo glad I didn't miss this!
I am a packrat and collector by nature and have many clippings but nothing to this degree. So organized at such a young age.
Are the Apes your only interest or do you have other treasures packed away?

I think you missed your calling, Scott, you should have gone into toy design!"Do you believe, you believe in magic?

I'm surprised that after going to your house and taking pictures that Mego didn't want to hire you. At twelve, I was probably just wondering which color crayon to use. You were making ape kitchens. WOW!It's all good!Comment

The last time I checked this thread it was two or three posts old. It now reaches TEN pages, and rightly so. What an amazing story. Half an hour of my time well spent reading this. Thanks."I should say I`m very much cleverer than any of the people who put me here. As a matter of fact, I could leave any time I wanted. It`s only a doll`s house after all. Anyway, I don`t mind. Scott, I just wanted to say that the Zira on your photographs is so well kept! So rub-free and pristine!

Old Mego ads in newspapers
Someone mentioned that he searched old New York Times issues on microfiche for Mego ads like the Apes appearances and sales.
These ads would not have been run in the Times - it's too high-priced
a newspaper. If anyone is interested in finding ads like that, you need
to look at Newsday, the New York Post, or the New York Daily News.
These are all working-class newspapers where Alexanders and Two Guys
could have afforded to run ads.Comment

Jessica invited me over to check this site out and I easily spent an hour reading this cool MEGO thread!
Being an ape fan myself this is incredible stuff! Thanks for the invite Jess!Last edited by angelofmusic2112; Sep 10, '08, 12:40 AM."I am a simple soldier, and as a soldier... I see things simply.” ~General Ursus~Comment
