All great movies, except Big Fish for me and I haven't seen Sweeney Todd
Back in the 70's, I remember me and my buds sneaking in through the exit backdoor of my local theatre to see a glimpse of the 70's version of Alice In Wonderland (R-version, unfortunately not the X version)
I'm not debating he'll do a good job with this, this is the kind of material Burton should be doing, I'm just a little tired of his schtick I guess. My wife will drag me to this, she adores this stuff.

I always loved Burton's work and was sooo looking forward to his take on Planet of the Apes. It came out on the last day of my HoneyMoon in Hawaii and I dragged my wife to see it. I've never been so disappointed, its on my list of top ten films I hate.
I thought Wonka would be right up his alley too, but that was a big disappointment also. It was 2 hours of Depp doing Wonka as Michael Jackson. Also, the original is such a classic, as with Apes, that these remakes, reimaginations, have alot to live up to.
With Alice, there is really nothing to compare it too, so I think whatever he does with it will be well received. Although in my mind it will be hard to top the x rated 70's version.
