    Traveling Classic Doctor Who DVD-R

I just had a nutty brainstorm

How 'bout, instead of a contest for a Classic Doctor Who DVD-R ---

    --- we have a Traveling Doctor Who DVD-R ?

EVERYBODY get's to enjoy it this way

You get it, watch it --- (record it -- shhh, I didn't say that) .......

Then send it to the next guy in line ....... then he does the same .....

    ---------------

If we did do this, we gotta rule out all officially released DW DVD stories .....

It must be something never released (as of yet) .... and not on the drawing board in the near future ...

Something somebody just can't buy in the store ........

    I have a suggestion ......

    PLANET OF THE SPIDERS

Jon Pertwee, the "James Bond Doctor" at his best ......

U.N.I.T. is there, as well as Sarah Jane --- and even the Whomobile

    Whatcha think ?

Now that is a fun plan.
This way, you have many winners, and it's "community-minded".

        A truly excellent idea.
        Count me in!

This sounds like fun. Excuse my ignorance but what is a dvd-r ? Is it the same as a dvd, will it play in my dvd player.

I know i have no way of recording it but would happily participate.

A DVD-R is a home burned DVD, usually burned on a computer ....

If your DVD player is about 4 years old (or newer) ... it should play in it like any other DVD ....

If by some chance, your player wont play it --- you can watch the DVD-R on your computer.

If you're not in the USA or Canada, your DVD player will probably NOT play it ... but you can still watch the movie on your computer....
The opposite also holds true if the DVD-R is from England, Europe, Australia or any other country

            Does that makes sense ?

Just remember guys, if you have a PAL burner, the disc will still burn in NTSC ... unless you convert it, and converting NTSC to PAL and the reverse is a lot harder then you'd imagine ...

The only DVD I have on Roger's list is The Dæmons --- copied from the colourized VHS release.

Well there's nothing to stop us from having the same dvd-r in 2 formats...one PAL and one NTSC...one for europe and one for U.S?...just an idea...........

Ok, well i have a new dvd player which is multi-region so it will play the disc wherever it comes from and in whatever format.

My computor on the other hand is the one i got from Noah when he had finished using it on the ark so i guess i would not be able to play anything on that.

I have some disks here that Mike sent me already - so they will be NTSC and played fine here in OZ which is region 4 PAL - just comes down to your player.

William Hartnell - The Edge of Destruction on DVD-R

Patrick Troughton - The Mind Robber on DVD+R

I know I have Planet of the Spiders here somewhere - but it may be a VCD on 2 disks possibly.

And I have the majority of Tom Baker on VCD as well (2 or 3 disks per story).

We could circulate a selection of each doctor perhaps.

I have only ever seen one McCoy thanks to Mike again.

I would love to see some more C Baker / McCoy eps. . .and Davidson who I enjoyed when it was first played and never reaaly seen since the 80's.

                    Dave gave me an idea

This has potential of being a great swap thread .....

Perhaps instead of having one traveling DVD (which some people may already have) , we should leave the thread open for requests, haves and wants ... Almost like the card trading forum.

                    What do yous think ?
