I thought T.I.E. Fighters were named after bow ties, (I do wonder what a bolo tie fighter would be), and later read the toy description of the Twin Ion Engines.

I remember asking how T.I.E. Fighters flew without traditional airplane wings.

I also thought Tuskan Raiders Sand People were non-human aliens/creatures . In the same way Lizard People are not human.

I thought Darth Vader was a man in armor.

Of course, near the same time period, I thought snowflakes hitting the car windshield, at night, were like the stars coming at you in Buck Rogers.

On the original Star Wars when Luke first switches on the light sabre I always thought Ben would say -- HEY, CAREFUL WITH THAT --- when Luke almost hits Ben

        You mean there are others?

My thought was: how come he handles it so well from the first moment he holds it?
I would have been thinking: "where's the on-switch?"

It would have been funny had he accidentally decapitated Ben...and "End Credits"....

but the name Sand PEOPLE, should have told me something.
The neat thing about the Sand People is that out of all of Ralph McQuarrie's original designs, this was the one that was most closely replicated for the film itself. Not much was lost in translating his concept art to the screen. You can also see some similarities in the tusks and mouth shape with his design for Darth Vader.

Clearly, you weren't the only one, but I thought neither of those things.

Robots don't have respirators, and the opening shot established what the universe's robots looked like just before Vader's entrance, and that thought never entered my mind.

Regarding the T.I.E. Fighters, I learned they were named from the acronym "Twin Ion Engine" within a week of the film's opening, so that thought never entered my mind either.

                  Until now, forty years later.

Also always wondered how long it took a stormtrooper to go to the bathroom - number 2 that is.

If you click my sig link, you can see a pic of me in my Stormtrooper armor. I can tell you that that #1 IS possible, with some, er... shifting. Never attempted (or needed to attempt) the other one.
