Reviews are pouring in en masse now, reaction is strongly positive. I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying that JJ made every effort to recapture the themes that made the originals so endearing to fans. So I'm pretty sure Museum reaction will be

I heard a story that some of the movie theaters around the country are hiring people to walk around the theater
with scanners during the movie to nail people who might be recording it on there phones or other devices,
could be just a rumor but these days I wouldn't be surprised.
I also heard some theaters will have armed guards or hire a police detail to frisk people at the entrance and
be inside the theater during the movie.
We've really come a long way these days, what a damn shame it has to come to this, but I guess with everything
going on in this country and world it's better to be safe than sorry.Comment

The critic reviews are mostly very positive, but they downplay aspects that has a lot of the fans grumbling. While that's common, this is the holiest of properties.
It's really classic,. classic Abrams. I've written before about the Bad Robot...pattern?...signature?...and it's certainly on display here. The difference is Abrams knows how to do it with enjoyment while Lindelof just craps the bed.
That's why I'm interested in Museum reax. Superhero movies can get a shrug because they exist in so many iterations, we can ignore the ones we don't like. But Star Wars with the original players, I dunno. Doesn't get more dogmatic than that.
What I think will be fun from a critical viewpoint is being able to compare/contrast Abrams take on Trek and Wars reboots versus their originals. Wars should show that if he had more reverence for Trek, it could have been great. But Abrams admitted early on Trek was never his cup o' tea and it was just a great opportunity to breakaway from tv.
Certainly better than the last three, but that's a really low bar.Comment

It seems that common issue people have with the movie is that it is too much like the 1977 movie, plot-wise, along with some of the elements of the sequels thrown in. Too much fan-service, imo. Plus I hear people mention that the movie is pretty much a remake/reboot, more or less.I am more than machine. More than man. More than a fusion of the two.Comment

that kids has the audacity to blame star wars for ruining his career. what a joke.
I actually like Phantom menace, flaws and all. but I do admit the kid was really annoying. I would take Jar Jar anyday over that kid.Comment
