Interesting about the female demographic point you brought up. I went to a matinee of the show last Saturday at the Sundance theater in Seattle, which is 21 and over and there was a very healthy representation of the female demographic, mostly all solo. I had a feeling the movie was going to be something special and it was. Certainly a lot modern sociopolitical statements being made in that movie and George Miller has not lost his touch when it comes to bringing his vision of mankind's future onto the big screen. Like the last three movies. This time it was more in your face and blatantly obvious. Movie of the year for me.

I did too. Despite his public real life train wreck persona, he is Max.

Haven't played video games for over a decade, but if they could make a game that played anything like the car scenes in the film, I'd be all over it like a (road) rash.

I believe they are making a Mad Max video game that was also years in development.

                Just saw the movie.
It's like a crazy person snorted a pound bag of coke, and started writing a story.

I liked it, but it has some problems.

                What I liked:
It's one hell of a ride, almost one non-stop chase/battle.
The visuals are amazing. It's super exciting, with some very inventive ideas. Loved all that.

                What I liked less:
The "non-stop" aspect starts working against it after a while. Some people in the audience said afterwards: "I'm exhausted, it's too much!".
Max is just a supporting character in the story. It's about Furiosa and her fight against Immortan Joe. Max is just along for the ride, and not that essential, which disappointed me.
I didn't really care about the characters, as there was no time to develop them.
They trashed the Interceptor within three minutes. This car is essential to Mad Max, what a shame, and in a possible sequel, he'll never have one like it again.

Again, it's an amazing movie to watch, but it's an experience of the senses (sounds, visuals), and not a real story. More of a two-hour rollercoaster ride.

^ Sums up my response perfectly. Well articulated! It really was overwhelming, but somehow, without much of a soul. It's a grand spectacle, like an opera, or circus, but there's something missing. I guess that's the point. Humanity has been reduced to one instinct: survival.

I enjoyed the movie, probably more than I have with a movie in years.

I liked the non-stop chase pace...although I had to use the bathroom at one point and feel like I missed out on some of it.

I thought Tom Hardy was good as Max, even if Max is "just along for the ride"- it was a good performance. I can see other actors overplaying that part. Hardy was just low key enough.

It's weird to look at a post -apocalyptic movie and think "that's really cool" but George Miller did a fantastic job as did the production design team. Even though the end of civilization is depressing, they made the new civilization intriguing.
