Recommended Sword & Sorcery Fantasy?

The works of the late David Gemmell were consistently great stories. Particularly his Drenai books, such as Legend, The King Beyond the Gate, Waylander, White Wolf, etc.

When I was a teenager devouring fantasy books, I really loved the first two Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever, by Stephen R. Donaldson.

Ditto! I also loved Anne McCaffrey's dragon stuff, Terry Brooks' Sword of Shannara series, and anything by Piers Anthony.

I loved the McCaffrey Dragonriders of Pern series. Once you read the series theres a extra book or two that starts at the very beginning thats completely Sci-fi!

Terry Goodkind's The Sword of Truth series is also really good. they made a campy TV show called legend of the seeker that did not last too long but the books are really good. the show being on TV could obviously not have the extensive violence and sex that is in the novels
Terry Brooks Shannara series is definitely a good read but there are a lot of books and he has merged it with one of his other series which is kind of cool
