Star Wars The Force Awakens Trailer

So far we:

1. Know zero to nothing about the actual plot/synopsis outside of some wild fan theories. Cool.

2. Have seen updated stormtroopers, so we know the empire, in some capacity still exists. Cool.

3. Witnessed a new kind of lightsaber/lightsword that looks awesome if a bit impraictical. Cool.

4. might be back on Luke's homeworld, old refuge for Obi-Wan and home of Mos Eisley(where Han probably comes into play). Cool.

5. One of the best spaceships ever created in X-wings updated and skimming over water. Cool.

6. A true original trilogy fanboy directing this. JJ has his downside with camera work, but there is no chance he fails here. None. COol

I know there's no pleasing everyone, but I cannot understand the vitriol I've seen regarding 63 seconds of footage. Until three years ago the was ZERO chance of ever seeing the big three work together and less of a chance of getting a new Star Wars film with them. Just sit back and enjoy this.

The overall internet reaction to this makes me think of this rant.

Ech, my twitter feed got really icky and entitled yesterday, if you began your comments with "Sorry but" I unfollowed you.

Super jaded with SW here, I have lived with the clone wars running 24/7 for the last 6 years whether I liked it or not (not!).

I got a little emotional when I saw the Falcon, it was a surprising reaction, that made me happy.

Just remember...it's the first look/trailer in what is sure to be more looks at the film. I personally loved the shots of the X-Wings and the Millenium Falcon. I will have the patience of a Jedi to see the original cast in a trailer

It was a teaser trailer, and it teased me, and made me want to see what they were doing. Mission accomplished.

Clemso, agreed new characters are needed, but after the disappointment the prequels were, they need to bank on the love of the big 3 characters being in it. even if they were to kill Luke Han and Leia in the first movie, and let the new characters take over from there, they still need to showcase the big 3 for the first movie and introduce the new characters, IMHO

You already know who the big three are, so this teaser was really about showcasing (what is probably) the next big three, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Issac. It will be nice to see the old timers but c'mon realistically if were doing SW7-9, we definitely need new characters to take it to the next generation.

I waited all day to check this out, I'm currently at Disneyworld with the family. I just watched it..... Parts of it looks good, parts of it concerns me.... I hope it turns out to be better than this teaser trailer looks. Too CG looking for my taste, and that lightsaber is interesting, but seems gimmicky, like Maul's double lightsaber was.

Hmmm... I'm not blown away. Very hopeful, still, but discouraged to see this looking more like a J.J. Abrahms film, and less like a continuation of the Star Wars aesthetic. Already seeing evidence of his trademark shaky-cam (Stormtroopers) and lens flare (Falcon). Star Wars is bigger than any director, so I was more hopeful he'd eschew his cheap camera gimmicks and work hard to match the visual aesthetic of the previous 6 films.

So... We'll see I guess.
