I know the apprehension with JJ's shake-cam stuff. I have some reservations myself. Even being a fan of his work, some of his shots could be tighter and tell a little better story with more clarity. However, I am enthused by having someone who actually grew up with the original trilogy. With Empire, Kirshner only had a couple of years to develop and direct so he couldn't have really been a fan of the source material. Fast forward to today and you've got 40 years of momentum and 2 extra generations of fans. I'm sure he's been thinking about making a Star Wars film since his teens, as have we all. He won't let us down. There would be no place safe on planet Earth if he does.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

At first I wondered why Lando isn't in it - and then I remembered it was made by Disney ... (Family Guy style joke)

Exactly, Chris. It's as simple as that.

            To the others posting:

This ain't the guy that runs FTC doing the marketing here. It's MICKEY FREAKIN' MOUSE.

            i.e. 'Tis ALL carefully calculated.

They don't WANT to show you the vintage three. They WANT to disorient you/disarm you with "new" stuff.

Why aren't they giving you what you "want" to see?

            'Cause they don't NEED to

Perfect marketing move for this first trailer.

Thank goodness they haven't caught on to Harrison's Ford's full ancestry

Ech, my twitter feed got really icky and entitled yesterday, if you began your comments with "Sorry but" I unfollowed you.

Super jaded with SW here, I have lived with the clone wars running 24/7 for the last 6 years whether I liked it or not (not!).

I got a little emotional when I saw the Falcon, it was a surprising reaction, that made me happy.
Well, Brian, yet again, your peg on me "bucking everybody's opinion" is correct

Altho' 'tis more "inherently" than (what I insist is never) "intentionally".

Citing precedence: I went NUTS over the TPM trailer, and it took me YEARS to admit to myself how disappointed I was in any or all of the prequels.

That said: I still get a kick out of trying to celebrate the prequels if at all possible, but MAN were they disappointing (eventually), despite me thinking TPM was going to be "straight on" Star Wars stuff.

That said: There's no way for me to be anything but excited by this TFA trailer. I, too, was emotionally affected by the Falcon...in fact, I fear watching the trailer again, because I'm afraid that I WON'T get the chills up my spine (literally) at the sight of the fantastic ship in a "new" scene. I get those chills EVERY time I watch the trailer.

The Stormtrooper moment was impressive in that I felt that actor's breathlessness. Pretty cool.

The "hilt" aspect has me scratching my head... but, hey, ---who knows. And, it's just a weapon design choice---I dunno---and, maybe, just maybe it was an INTENTIONAL headscratcher? I guess I have to man up and stand behind that the "hilt" is definitely intentional in it's apparent lack of logic...well, it's either that, or the Lucasfilm/Disney/Abrams contingent don't know a hilt from a handle.

My biggest worry is that I thought the Abrams Trek films made little sense.

But I balance that out with the fact that people like Ardnt, and, most notably, Kasdan were involved in this script... not to mention the Lucasfilm contingent overall.

Plus, alot of you all liked the Trek films, and that truly means something to me... maybe, I'm just not as into Trek as I think I am(?), and it biased me(?)

Anywho... still really, really psyched on FORCE AWAKENS...and, as a postscript, Louie CK would be happy to know that everyday that I interact with new technology...I'm just grateful as heck!

To be honest, the new trailer doesn't bother me, really.
It's just a little "light" on exciting stuff. I'm sure they'll be building it all up in the months to come.
I have a feeling that Abrams' style is more suited to SW than to Trek, so I'm positive.
But it would have been cool to see just a glimpse of Luke, for example. Then again, we got a great Falcon shot.

I think for a film that's still 12 months from being in theaters (that probably has next to nothing "finished" in terms of effects shots)... this was a good teaser.
                      Fresh, not from concentrate.

Its good for what it is, a teaser. It makes me look forward to actual movie trailers later on this next year. I was a kid in the 70s as were most of us here, and the excitment of the originally trilogy will never be recaptured. It just can't, especially for those that were there for the original. I believe Lucas' plan was to seperate the trilogies for a certain amount of years to make a Star Wars for a new generation. So if this set of trilogies excites a new generation, then it has accomplished it's task, just as the one of the 70s excited us. If us old farts go along for the ride and try to enjoy it as best we can, then thats just a bonus. We have to just not hold onto or compare it to the originals too much, because in all honesty nothing can compare with that. It's like comparing other bands to the success the Beatles had in the 60s, it's partially their talent and partially just the time in which it happened was right for it.

And if I am not mistaken JJ Abrams was really a Star Wars fan, not a Trekl fan, he did the Trek films because they were offered to him I believe.

PS: The coloring and blurriness could be just from the fact that these scenes might not be 100% complete yet.

I was completely convinced I wouldnt like the Abram Star Trek films but I accidently started watching one flipping thru the channels one day. I liked them after viewing.

I'm not as skeptical now although I dont think this little sneak peak reveals much. I still have no idea of the basic plot are where theyre headed with it, should be interesing.
