I couldn't agree more Clem
Glad to see i'm not alone in my thinking
Making the Doctor kind of a d_ck is fine for the hardcore fans entertainment, but he's going to quickly lose his Tennant/Smith younger fans -- and like it or not, without that base the show will die a quick death.
For the average fan Capaldi just isn't likable.
Even Hartnell had at least a "twinkle in his eye"

I'm finding the new Doctor a little too cold and clinical. He is quite frightening which i guess is the point and why Clara (poor girl) is close to tears over his "i don't give a s**t antics. But as a member of the audience, i am finding it hard to warm to the Doctor or have any empathy for him. I guess the tone was set in episode 1 when the Doctor coldly says to the Half Face Man. i guess i am going to have to kill you.
I read most of the outdoor scenes were filmed where the classic series filmed Planet of Fire.
Kinda interesting
Still, imo the episode sucked
Capaldi is decent (sans his lousy American friendly speaking voice) but if an episode sux i'm not afraid to voice my opinion --- and this one sucked
Compared to the classic series, this one was a kid's showLeave a comment:

I liked it, most of it.
Sure, the "monster" was a bit lame (and I can never get excited by CG spiders anymore, really done to death), but I like the central idea, that now and then The Doctor steps back and has to let history take its course.
It's logical that Humanity needs to make its own choices, and that we shouldn't be calling "Doctor, help us!" every five minutes.
Kind of annoyed by Clara being this narrow-minded, feeling that the Doctor needs to be on standby 24/7 for planet Earth.
I know they're setting up the breakup, but they could be handling it better. Doesn't feel natural to me.
But I liked the idea of "I can't kill every Hitler that pops up, make your own choices, sometimes they're for the better".Leave a comment:

"Robots in Sherwood" had to be the most fun one to watch IMO. I don't think I have ever laughed that much watching Doctor Who. I have a friend who is recording this season of this new doctor, and so far that episode and the first episode has been the best so far.Leave a comment:

Yeah, about the new moon... How does something lay an egg BIGGER than itself? Was it some sort of Tardis egg?
Oh, and how does a British Girl become President of the United States? Do we change the Constitution in the next 50 years?
Some poor writing and editing there!Leave a comment:

I liked it (with the exception of the lame retcon of the "new moon". Nice twist of the Doctor saving the day and leaving it up to us to make a decision. The last 10 minutes were excellent with the Doc and Clara.Leave a comment:

The episode tonight was ok, the kid really annoying and hopefully we are done with her. ..then came that total dressing down moment... I sense the end is near?
But then I was thinking about all the negative ideas Ol' Pinky has been planting in Clara's head. Talking about how demanding and cruel the Doctor is. Maybe it's not all petty jealous sniping at a rival for Clara's time...maybe he's not a companion wannabe... What if he's a villain working to break up the band?Leave a comment:

Tonight's episode was okay. Don't like the kid much... she's annoying.
Clara's departure is definitely being set up now.
Still liking Capaldi's brusque, somewhat abrasive Doctor. Works really well, IMO.Leave a comment:

It was a good character episode but it seems the purpose of this season is to deconstruct the friendship The Doctor & Clara had. Without devulging spoilers there were lines in the latest episode which show pretty clearly that a wedge is being driven between the two and I think her exit is being set up. Clara was built up really well last season as the "impossible girl" and this season she seems to be a punching bag. In some episodes she gets treated almost as badly as Peri was by the 6th Doctor.
I'm enjoying some of these stories but not Capaldi's Doctor as much. I don't want to slam Capaldi but I think it was just too soon for him to take over. I think his introduction was rushed and maybe they could've tried something new to phase him into the show. We got that brief cameo in the anniversary and maybe they could've done something different like having him and Matt cross-over for a couple of stories. Perhaps something more elaborate than the 4th - 5th Doctor thing during Logopolis.Leave a comment:

^Yeah, I'd like to see a callback to some of the old companions, even though I'm not overly familiar with some of them.
