Also Moffat teases no more re-generations. After seeing how he got around the Gallifrey conundrum he's got something up his sleeve:

I assume that since The Doctor travels in time, we only see a part of his adventures. It was said in DotD that 400 years passed for #s 9, 10, & 11 since The Hurt Doctor ended the time war. That includes not only the stories & companions we know, but many others unseen. Could have been centuries until #9 met Rose?
I also think just the rigors of fighting in the War aged Hurt, including many time related injuries?

A friend and I saw this at the movies tonight. What a fantastic experience seeing this with a large group of fans laughing and clapping all at the same time.

I am going to miss Matt Smith as the Doctor. I find that he, above all, has been able to play hundreds of years old and weight of the world superbly.

On another note, Have they ever explained how sometimes they imply that hundreds of years have passed between series and, yet, Matt or David look the same, but John Hurt as seen in Night of the Doctor looks young and is aged by the time we get to the end of the war?

A bit late to the party.....Loved it,really was a fantasic 50th anniversary Who.

Liked the old Dr Who opening theme tune at the beginning, seeing all the Dr's together,John Hurt was fantastic as The War Dr and glad they did the Time War story.Loads of nice touches to it and Tom Baker cameo at the end as the Curator was brilliant.

They showed the aftershow party after the 50th Anniversary episode, that was quite good too, loads of past companions and Dr's 5,6,7 where there, also K-9 was there too.

That was some good foreshadowing. The had to have the scarf for a reason. Now we know why-and likely who gave it to her.

The Zygons subplot wasn't as annoying as I thought it would be. I hate evil twins/double episodes but it didn't really turn out that way. They look too monster-ish tho. They were pretty good the way they used to look without caricaturing their faces to look overly evil.

Some threads from other stories seem to show their roots. "No More" is something Dalek Caan said over and over when he betrayed Davros. Those words were not his own it seems. Now we know why QE 1 was out to get the Doctor. He never came back to be her husband. Lots's good thought went into this special. It was very well planned.

I agree with Mike and others the pre show was TERRIBLE on bbc america (the one BBC ran in the UK was better becuase it actually had classic who stars in it but not by alot).
I like Grant and he is a confirmed geek (have you seen his Sulu on Star trek the voyage continues) buthe shows he does need a bit of a script and that other tool Blech- I know he is a buddy of hardwick who produced it (he's been on nerdist alot) but they could have esily found more famous and interesting who fans even in the US - Barrowman would have been a slam dunk but I think he was in the UK for the celebration, as would John Levene (Sgt Benton in the classic series lives in LA), even hardwick would have been more interesting to watch
And yes they should have broadcast all the webisodes as a build up but this is a common thing for BBC, there are countless webisodes that are prequels to the specials and season premiers that they don't even put on the dvd releases

Mike is Right NJN would have done a WAY better tribute show (if you ever have a chance to see 30 years in the tardis you'll see what I mean)

Is it like a rule that all the talking heads have to talk about the modern era for greatest moments, villians, monsters etc?

I think sickly unit girl has the scarf as both a tribute to the 4th Dr (since she works for unit she has seen photos of him if only from Robot, Terror of the Zygons, and seeds of death) and would know he wore the scarf , and since we know the school scarf was the germination of tom's scarf and she's sickly - she needs a scarf in case she gets a chill LOL

My guess on Capladi is that he remembered the day all the Doctors converged on Galifrey, so he showed up. Not sure how the earlier Doctors got there...but who cares. It was really cool.

I think Gallifrey is inside that crystal paperweight the Hurt Doctor was playing with.

I'm guessing Season 8 will be about The Doctor trying to figure out how to bring The Time Lords back?

For the American BBC-America crowd, I do wish they tacked on the McGann Time-War short episode rather than that extremely ebarrassingly cheesey pre show ......... Watching it I felt embarrassed to be a fan since 1975-ish.

PBS would have treated it a little better

Let's assume that Tom Baker/the Curator is in fact the Doctor's final life. As he's the Curator (and possibly the same as Doc 4), maybe he just gave it to her.
It was also a nice clue about who we would find in the museum.

Maybe he was able to contact past and future Doctors through his Sonic Screwdriver software, they seemed to be hinting at some profound connection through those.

When the Doctor contacted all his past incarnations, he was also able to bring in his next version, Capaldi. So was this a one off event he was able to do because of the time war fallout, or has he always been able to contact a prior regeneration? Same with the next Doctor... Was he "invited" to help, or just show up because he knew what had happened? I'm going with the latter, since I think it's established that the Doctor has no idea who or what he will become. Although it would be cool to see a crossover episode where a future Doctor visits the current version and we see the event from the current's viewpoint instead of the other way around. Maybe not the next version, but one from 6 or 7 regeneration a down the line.

Why was Osgood wearing the 4th's scarf?
