OMG!
That was fantastic! Just shows what could have been, how we missed out on a really great version of the Doctor... After rewatching the 8th movie again, I've been inspired to seek out some of the novels etc. and find they are very good.
So pumped for the special now! -

Neat. I've always liked the 96 movie and McGann's Doctor. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

Very interesting.
From what Smith's Doctor said when the Hurt Doctor was introduces I figured that Hurt was the Doctor that ended the time war and doing that would go against everything the Doctor had stood for but I thought that the Hurt Doctor was just an older version of the McGann Doctor not a new Doctor.
That make the Hurt Doctor #9, Eccleston is now #10, Tennant now #11 and Smith #12 - making Peter Capaldi the 13th and last Doctor since Time Lords only regenerate 12 times.Comment

Fianally Paul gets some respect, but it also proves out what I've been saying all along there is no reason other than they choose not to that they can't make a series with Paul as the Doctor for tv

Hmmmm....
Yeah; I think they changed it so Time Lords have an unspecified number now. It's not indefinite, 'cos it takes a lot of effort, but there's no set number. Which is probably good, since the 13th Doctor is supposed to be evil. (Unless he IS; and that's what #12 was so worried about.)

As for the 13th being evil, the Valeyard is described by the Master as an amalgamation of the Doctor's darker sides from between his twelfth and final incarnations -not the true 13th Doctor.Comment

Is there a back story to that planet, the sisterhood and the elixir from the original series that new who fans can check out?
I kind of wish they stretched out McGann's return as the Doctor to some more minisodes.
It looks like Christopher Eccleston really could of have some meaty material to play with rather than John Hurt if he hadn't of burned his bridge. Although being the main antagonist in Thor means he's not hurting either. (pun intended)
At the recent Who-con, I found it fascinating that folks were referring to Hurt as 8.5 in order to try and retain their original numbering system. 8)Comment
