Colin Baker looks nothing like his "former self", But I think they could still use someone like McCoy. He has aged well.

The 50th anniversary is made for the oldies ... People want to see them no matter how old or fat they are.
Shat was Captain Kirk well into being a fat old man - no Trek fans cared
The problem with today's show is they care more about aesthetics than fan-pleasingComment

The beauty of the David Tennet Doc is that there exists on an alternate Earth a human version of him that lives with Rose... who WILL grow old. They can keep bring HIM in forever, as that character.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"The Four Doctors" would have been great, and would have given McGann another chance to actually appear on screen as the Doctor. He hasn't aged too drastically since '96.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

Eccleston has moved on and will probably never come back to DW for any reason. It was just a spring-board for him to get noticed and get better acting jobs. He usually deflects any questions, like participation in the 50th, with coy answers. He was great in the role. He brought a fresh take to it but I don't like the way he distances himself from it. They should have involved McGann in this at least. He is the transition from old Doctor era to new.Comment

You know there is a whole aging issue to consider too. I mean, consider when the Doctor regenerates, his old face ceases to be. It's a moment stuck in time, not getting older.
Now with the whole time travel premise, sure the current Doc can meet himself from a few regenerations ago, but it's hard to suspend disbelief when the actor now looks NOTHING like he would have at that time.Comment

We were this close to having Doctor Diaper....

I agree Mike. Baker has aged well. they could throw an afro wig on and put on his old coat and scarf and no one would care if he has a few more wrinklesComment

Hartnall was 55 but played his doctor as a 60-70 year old and wore a white hair wig
Troughton was 46
Pertwee was 51
Tom Baker was 40
Davison was 29 (the youngest till Matt Smith)
Colin was 41
McCoy was 44
Mcgann was 47
Eccleston was 41
Tennant was "young" at 34
Smith was 26 the youngest ever
So Capaldi is actually right in the "proper" age for a DoctorComment
