I miss Roddenberry's Science Fiction sense. You remember??? When you actually got to think while watching Science Fiction. This is turning into another action flick (that might contain a little science content. Don't worry. we'll dumb it down so your head won't hurt.) I'm guessing they'll post a warning outside the theater... "WARNING... No one with an IQ above 80 will be allowed to view this film. Sincerely the Management.

Has anyone been reading the prequal comic? I haven't seen any direct connections to it in the new trailer but my guess is that Cumberbach is playing the son of a former Starfleet Captain. Anyway, I think they really need to do a new series ito explore the sci-fi ideas better, most of the movies have relied more on action than exploring ideas.

I'm not defending the modern movies but Roddenberry wasn't all that great aka the snoozefest --- remember Star Trek The Motion Picture ? ---- That was Gene's baby and it could have been the end of the franchise right then and there.

I'd say the best remembered Trek movies are ones that were less ponderous and actually exciting. High concept Trek works on the small screen but it's a snooze fest at the movies.

I like the new Trek movie because a film should entertain first and foremost and last I checked my IQ was just above 80.

I love Cumberbatch in Sherlock, so I could see the "superior intellect" of Khan.

I'm leaning toward the idea of Cumberbatch being a character of the first third of the movie, GM with special powers maybe that turns out to be used as a pawn by Khan. GM gets killed by Kirk after draining the ESP powers. Second third the crew learns of Khan and Khan is revealed to be a woman. (Klingons find Khan instead of Starfleet in act 1.) Klingons fight Starfleet have a victory or two, then Khan fights weakened Klingons, after getting a starship, and beats them. Act 3, Enterprise fights Khan.

I did not know there was a comic book for this one.

They need to include comic book facts into movie.

              That's a number 4!:

You can write off everything Hollywood does as greed and poor tate, but there are other factors that make Hollywood the soulless blockbuster machine that it is. Some of which you'd never suspect.

I like excitement, but this doesn't look Trek to me. If it weren't for the actors and a few brief scenes with the classic-style uniforms, I'd be scratching my head what it was.

Again, it looks like a decent flick, but it's not screaming "STAR TREK" to me, which is a shame, because I feel the first film really nailed the essence of TOS Trek.

I hope it's just the marketing, and the movie has a melty-gooey TOS center.

I do like my Trek to be more Trek-like. ha,ha!

The new one does look really good though, any complaints I had were in the 2009 film.

The only thing I don't like in the trailer is the one moment that was supposed to be like a Millennium Falcon tight squeeze, but comes off more like prop planes flying sideways in between buildings in the "bad" Pearl Harbor movie.

At least in TNG, the Enterprise went sideways in a Star Trek, more believable, way.

And a more cool situation with the Dyson Sphere.
