    New international Star Trek trailer.

Looks to be more of the same. Seems to me that most of the action and intrigue happens on Earth. Unless Abrams is keeping a chunk of the film secret. Apparently, the Klingons play an important role in the story. IDK. Doesn't really seem to be the cinematic Star Trek Gene Roddenberry wanted it to be. He didn't want the Star Trek movies to be full of swashbuckling action and epic space battles.
I am more than machine. More than man. More than a fusion of the two.

The scene that bothers me is the Enterprise crashing into the ocean. It's plenty cool as a spectacle piece, but the law of physics is just well off on this. For a ship traveling at that speed, it would just explode on impact. Nothing that size could careen off the surface of the water after hitting it at that angle so hard. The G's alone would make it crumble in on itself. Hopefully there is a better explanation and HOPEFULLY, someone is wearing a harness restraint on board!

^Maybe the shields kept it together? They are kind of mumbo-jumbo "do what we want when we need them" things anyhow.

This looks good...but I think I'd rather seen some exploring of strange new worlds, seeking out new life...blah blah.

And what is it with London? First Cobra and now this guy destroys it!?!

I'm a bit tired of all this "grim vendetta" stuff. It's not my kind of Star Trek. It was done well in TWOK, but that was enough.

        I think I'll pass...

I still can't believe Gary Mitchell is going to be on the big screen.

I wasn't sure at first, but Cumberbach's eyes are insanely blue in a few shots. Also, it just makes no sense to have such a white guy play Khan Singh. I know studios are terrified of offending anyone today, but this would be a bridge too far.

It doesn't seem like Mitchell or Khan

are we sure that's the Enterprise crashing into the water,
and not another Constellation class ship?

Maybe it IS the Enterprise and crashing will be the next step to a NEW Enterprise --- considering the previous movie Enterprise wasn't all that big of a hit - especially with older fans.

You can see the NCC-1701 on the saucer as it goes down.

                    I can't believe they're using the helicopter/boardroom massacre scene from Godfather 3..

I think they're just setting it up for a new Enterprise design, possible one a lot more different from the original concept.
Crashing the Enterprise seems to be a favorite among movie makers. Like killing off a character.

I also saw some stills where Spock and Uhura are giving each other an oral exam again. Jeez...

                        Hmmmm....

"Starfleet has fallen! Repeat, Starfleet has fallen!"

I've been amazed the last year or so at how similar durned near every movie coming down the pike looks, feels, is....

                        >I can't believe they're using the helicopter/boardroom massacre scene from Godfather 3

I've seen a few movies lately wherein every scene, shot, line, character, plot point was cribbed from something else. Perhaps we've reached the cognitive singularity; wherein every idea has been used, reused, repackaged, reinvented, recycled and reappropriated so much that there's literally nothing new left. Sure, there are only so many plots out there; but it seems like we've gone beyond not even trying and have reached a weird point where they're TRYING to come across like they're not even trying.

If they're going to ripoff a scene from a Godfather movie Kirk should have a security guard take Pike for a boatride

My theory (which, if true to form with the various Abrams shows I've theorized about, has a 50% chance of being right and a 50% chance of being more clever and interesting than what actually gets revealed) is that Cumberbatch is a member of Khan's crew of supermen, and maybe the only survivor of the Botany Bay after some accident that happens in the new continuity that will spin it all further off from the original.

And one thing I don't like about the new ST that's apparent in the trailer is the design work -- it seems like it was all done by someone who doesn't like Star Trek but has to stick enough of the look in to make the boss happy.
