Not so sure this is a film that would work today. The original is fun for who was in it and for when it was made. It was also a vehicle intended to "dirty up" Kurt Russell's image from his Disney days and make him more mainstream for action films. The story itself is kind of yesterday in context. I'm not so sure that story would be engaging now. Heck when Carpenter and Russell got together years ago to do a sequel, it didn't look or feel like a valid bookend for the series either. I'm assuming Colin Farrell will play the lead role. Not that his name is in the article, but these days he seems to be involved in every failed remake out there. Cheap labor?
