Purportedly the first upcoming stand alone Star Wars film will be about Yoda...

From AICN (not the most credible source on the net) http://www.aintitcool.com/node/60757

I'm not sure how a movie can stand up with Yoda as the main character, unless it was an animated Disney film.

I imagine it might be set during the days when he first joined the Jedi Order. That would be cool.

These standalone SW films have great potential. It would be awesome if Joe Johnston's Boba Fett movie got the go ahead.

Seems a Yoda movie would only only appeal to die-hard Star Wars fans and maybe kids

I can't imagine it being much of a money maker for the studio

I think that might be a big enough audience to make a nice chunk o' change for Disney.

They should do Star Wars shorts in front of random Disney flicks, just like the old days. Their attendance on an average Disney movie would increase 100 fold.

Even more news about stand alone films:http://www.aintitcool.com/node/60785

I have mixed emotions about endless Star Wars films. I love Star Wars (even liked the prequels and special editions), but this onslaught of films runs the risk of spiraling out of control. Star Wars used to be unique and thrilling. I'd hate to see it watered down with a bunch of spin-offs.

The problem with any sequel is that, in order for it to feel fresh and worthwhile it has to add something: something to a character, the setting, the plot.... I could easily see the Star Wars ones becoming a lot of really generic sci-fi films with "Star Wars" slapped on. 'Course they don't HAVE to be like that, but the bigger the company the safer they play it.

The Yoda thing seems odd but he's a well known character, they haven't run his story into the ground yet, and he's kid friendly; both in demeanour, and he's their size. There are other characters I'd rather see a film about (Jaxxon and Amaiza for instance, or Valence, Gary the stormtrooper, an original version badass cannibal Ewok, someone completey new....) but I can understand their decision.

If they do a Yoda film then they should do a short about Willrow Hood, aka the Ice Cream Guy.

Boba Fett and Han Solo movies sound like fun.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I will predict this right now: Joseph Gordon Levitt as young Han Solo. Because he's the new Shia LeBouf.

Lol, don't bring me down. I've wanted a series of pre-rebellion Han Solo movies since I read Han Solo at Stars' End as a kid.

I wonder if Yoda will sing "It's Not Easy Being Green"?
