New show "Arrow"

If they are going more of the Grell type of Arrow then Laurel could be the Canary without the Canary Cry. During most of Grells time on Green Arrow BC didn't have her Canary Cry because of an injury - they've already shown the Laurel can handle herself in a fight and with a little extra training from Ollie she could really kick some a s s.

Not into 90120 comic book adaptations...just like the deceased little show called Smallville.

Well, initially Black Canary never had the "canary cry", she was just the martial artist type heroine. The cry was added when they had her join the Justice League. I could see the computer whiz becoming Oracle. With the Huntress now added, that would lead in to The Birds of Prey if Laurel decides to go into the Canary role. I've been kinda watching for hints such as a bird motif in her apt or somebody to drop a nickname on her.

And Tommy Merlin is surely heading down the path to villainy. Or is that going to be his daddy, Captain Jack Harkness (sorry, cannot see him otherwise). Using a sword instead of a bow & arrows, hinted at by him fencing?

Ahhh, too much speculation. I'm just enjoying the show!

@ hector - I feel the same way but I have found this show to very entertaining with out the "fluff" and teen agnst/"drama" that you mention . . . . great action scenes, i could use a few more . . . . it's the only network show I watch . . . . . well, except Last Man Standing, which is greatness!

Well, his last name is Merlyn ( not Merlin ) and Merlyn is the name of one of Ollie's foes in the comics so that won't be a surprise.

You'll be happy to know Arrow is very light on the romantic melodrama. What is there is much more adult, and less emo, and much of it ties into the central plot lines of the series.
