It's possible that the actual design/look of the Enterprise was based (partly or more) on these Koerner "drawings", but the images are not taken from the film, so there's no way to say definitively. The one official pic seems to already differ from the drawings, but we'll have to wait for a wider perspective.

Thank you! I suspected there'd be a bigger announcement if these were real.

I had a hard time watching Casino Royale. I had to get passed the fact this was supposed to be (film)chronologically before Dr. No.

Besides being a huge Star Trek and Batman fan, I'm a James Bond fan. I want to give Daniel Craig a chance. I guess I have to put aside the differences in technology. But then, Craig's Bond works for the same M as Brosnan's, but not Connery's or Moore's - Scooby says hruh?

The technology on Enterprise was cool. I just don't want a headache trying to wrap my brain around Enterprise to this Star Trek to the Classic Trek.

I LIKE IT! Come'on...if it looked just like the original TV Version...it just wouldn't work with todays high quality special effects. This is a nice happy medium, between the old and the new. It has the round parts on the front of the Narcel's, and the right shape on the back of them as well. I'm very pleased...it's "retro" enough...and I think it looks GREAT!

*Whoops!* Shouldn't have skipped Page two! But I still think it looks cool!

The pic I posted was emailed to me by a friend. I didn't check to see if it was a concept and not the real one. Even so that forward vew is just a sliver. It has a lot of similarities. The Front of the warp engines are overly large like Gabe's design.

I am familiar with Gabe's work. He was in the films Trekkies and Trekkies 2. I read he also designed the CGI Viper Mark 2 and the worked on the first 1/3 of the CGI Galactica for the new BSG series.

It better look like the CGI versions on the redone Originals or else!!
They better not F@#$ with the Trek cannon.I've about had my fill of that crap from Enterprise,ds9 voyager and stng.
Just give a cool time travel story with Spock or Kirk just don't mess up the trek universe or by Jeeze I'll turn in all my Trek stuff for Star wars!!!-No offence to you S/W fans...
I was a huge S/W fan until Lucas started playing around with everthing and messed it all up.

Why illogical? I always thought that ships like the Enterprise, Liberator, and others always showed more imagination because they were never intended for planetfall and without the restraints of full gravitational forces on them could really be any shape or size.

As for the picture I think it looks ok bearing in mind that if it is an academy movie Kirk and the crew as we know it shouldn't even be on the ship unless its a tour. It was April's ship then Pike's ship long before Kirk gets command plus after the academy isn't he supposed to do a tour on the U.S.S. Republic and U.S.S. Farragut first?

Shape and size don't matter if a structure is stationary in outer space, but attaching engines to it forces you to have to deal with a different set of constraints: inertia, the center of mass, structural stability, etc.

The engine nacelles on the Enterprise were the '60s spaceship equivalent of giant tailfins on a '50s Cadillac.

Very apparently...what I can never understand is why film companies with franchises like these never seem to involve the fans...why can they not employ a geek/nerd to endure these things are done right...I mean it is all in the detail FFS ...when will they learn....

Pretty much how I feel about it.
This is Star Wars all over again. The 3 new movies had more modern spaceships than the original 3, despite the timeline being backwards
