CW take on "Beauty and the Beast"...

I read the article and watched the video clip from this reimagining of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" series with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman and all I can say is----NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I mean, that show was classic, romantic, mysterious, atmospheric and even action-packed and it looks like the CW is just trying to "Twilight"ize it. I mean, MIB41 will be tickled s**tless that it's got Kristen Kreuk in it, but it just LOOKS terrible...

You can read about all the atrociousness over at AICN...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

          UGH!

I'd only watch it if one of the main actors is in full lion-esque makeup that takes four or five hours to put on.

Who says it has to be the guy?

Make a woman the beast in the series, with REAL self esteem issues due to her looks, where plastic surgery isn't an option, and she has led a life so isolated that it makes Vincent look like a prince of society.

Where the guy has to convince her that she isn't ugly, or a freak, and they have to find out how she got that way, as she was raised by foster parents in a teeny weeny mountain community that doesn't even have a mail route.

I don't dislike Kreuk, but man I grew to hate her Lana Lang. It wasn't her fault. She was hired as a principal character, but the show evolved beyond the original concept, yet they were obligated to give her the same amount of screen time. They couldn't turn her into the strong, supportive character Lois became due to the character's history, so instead she became a tumor on the show. Once they finally removed it, the show lost the last vestiges of it's early growing pains.

I don't get the "Beast" angle here. Reminds me of that "Beastly" movie that came out last year that tanked before we got ReMegos.

Wow, I finally disagree with Toyroom about something. I Liked Lana over Lois, but Lana was always the sacrifice to the mythos as the series progressed. Especially as she was never Clarks love in the comics, just another of the messes thgis show did to Superman history.

Yeah---I read an article in the most recent issue of TV Guide that those of the female persuasion were just raving over what a hottie the guy who plays "The Beast" is...

Uhm, does anyone else besides me think that sort of negates the whole point of the show?

This thing definitely seems to share more genetic material with the recently released "Beastly" than with the TV show that it's supposedly a "reimagining" of.

Personally, I wish the CW would have done a series based off of the movie "I Am Number Four." Probably would've been cooler.
