I wonder if you could mash-up this John Robison with Triad Toy's new 12" Zorro and get a good Guy Williams Zorro?
Not a LIS fan, but these are very nicely done. I'd be all over these if I was into the show.
Chris
Someone on ebay is already selling the head reworked with Zorro moustache.

I'll definitely pick up Don West whenever he comes out. He's kind of Robin to John Robinson's Batman. But the others I will collect only once I know they intend to produce all the characters. On that scale, I don't want a partial display if I start getting the family members.
Last I spoke to them, SFM stillintends on completing the crew.

Masayuda [?] made a 16" B9. That's about the closest so far.
I know SFM had plans for a properly scaled one to be released as well.
I'm always late to the party, but that never stops me!
First off, I'm really glad the line isn't dead. I was looking forward to some of the unproduced figures, but I'm really sad about what happened. (:[
Secondly, I'm totally thrilled and love my 12" Keeper figure from Sci-Fi Metropolis. Since there's no dates printed on the figure or box, doing research from blogs and store updates it appears he was released in 2010. The quality is just great, I couldn't be happier.
I scanned the box back and sides, because they showed really neat figures that haven't been released/produced yet, and the earlier figures. I totally hope they continue.... WANT IDAK!!!
...and now my burning question. What the heck is up with Verda?! Looking it up, it seems in 2006 stores and blogs were told of her release, with pics and specs, but I can find NO box art or figures on the 2ndry market, and she doesn't show on the later box back. So I guess she wan cancelled unless somebody knows different? I really really want her, I hope she's released later (or not really scarce). http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/p...il&picture=out
note: this next store in stock is NOT really in stock. When you do a search in the store she doesn't show, and she doesn't get added in the cart, so it looks like they just yanked her out without deleting her? http://www.elitebrigade.com/f_catego...Part=GISM-LIS8

Also, here's the link to the upcoming pre-order of Don West, HOWEVER, it said coming in 2011, and well....... http://www.amoktime.com/893364002243.html
There is some tool on ebay selling custom 12 inch Guy Williams Zorros using a recast of the Scifimetropolis head. Our studio did the prototype sculpt for that figure. I contacted the person and he claims he paid a sculptor in the Philipians a LOT of money to sculpt that head. It is so obviously a recast. They didn't even bother to try and change the hair, just added a mostache.
Not sure what the stance is on recasting on this forum, but it is a real insult to artist when thier work is abused in this way. As someone whose work has been stolen by recasters for years I can tell you that supporting this type of venture is what will keep a lot of artsit away from being involved in custom communities. Not to mention that this is a currently licensed product and prosecution can happen.
Some additional info about these figures. The prototype heads initially shown at Wonderfest were redone by our studio. The Keeper got kind of distorted in manufacturing because the factory tried to resize the head instead of sending it back to us to fix. It should of ended up looking more like the Klaatu head we did for Amok Time. Maureen Robinson was done by a factory that SFM had to go to for female figures since thier regular manufacturer did not have a stock 1/6th female body. This factory really screwed up the Maureen as well as a couple of figures produced at the same time for Executive Replicas. I'm seeing now that Don West is finally going into production. We had reworked that head as the original prototype was too large. My understanding of the issues with releasing the other figures was bodies. Judy might work on an adult 1/6th body, but finding a factory that has a stock body and will do an affordable run was not an option the last I heard. This factor makes Verda difficult to get produced as well. Penny and Will require bodies that aren't readily available. Tooling for new bodies is very expensive. While IDAK is a cool looking figure the number of people who would actually buy it may make it an issue. I should point out that this was my understanding of the situation earlier this year. Due to our time contrants dealing with elderly relatives that live with us, we had to give up some of the clients we could no longer service in a timely manner. Unfortunatly the block of SFM/Executive Replicas/Go Hero/Amok Time was one of the groups of clients we had to split from. If you want more of these products to come out let them know. Let other fans know. Amok Time's Battlestar Galactica 12 inch figures died before production because there was not enough interest/support to make it comfortable to lay down the investment to go to production. These companies look like they are back on track with getting things into production so support them if you can.
What's the point of getting Don if you know Penny and Will won't be made? Or if there are body issues with Maureen and Judy? Don't manufactureres know these things before production? You're doing LIS and you know you need to do the whole family before hand. I realize some characters are more popular than others but for me and LIS it's the whole family or none at all. Of course this is probably why I don't own any 12" figures outside of Megos.
sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSH
Hopefully over time, we will see the entire family. If running the bodies is a problem, how about including heads and outfits of the second tier members in deluxe packaging for other figures? I noticed you had one John Robinson with his jet pack. Why not make that a Deluxe version with a build-a-character theme to it? You could do the same with IDAK. If demand is questionable, grow your buyer base by including extra heads to build other family members. The consumer can get the heads and outfits from your deluxe kits and buy the bodies themselves to complete the figure. Better yet, find a company that makes bodies that would go well with these second tier characters and offer them free promotional advertising if they help finance the heads and outfits. Why not? Lots of possibilities if you want to get these characters made.
There was lots planned for Lost in Space. Aside from the whole family there was the jetpack, anti-matter John and Don, first season outfit versions (and lasers!), the robot, space pod and chariot.....
ScottA, I understand your view of why get John or Don or Dr Smith if Will and/or penny might be a problem. However, and especially in the 1:6 world, you don't always get the whole family/crew/set. Hot Toys is (in)famous for not completing a licensed property. Only gorillas from their POTA license, only Stallone from the Expendables, etc.. Hell, even when Mego was doing 12" they didn't give us Bones or Scotty in their TMP line [but we did get an Arcturian]
There were other dilemmas with factories and such for SFM along the way. If you want the best chance to get the WHOLE Robinson family, get the figures as they are released. The more interest, the more likely the remaining figures can see the light of day.
As was said, we were looking at some very sweet versions from Amok Time's classic BSG line. A lack of pre-orders sank the line before it could get started. Sad, as it is very understandable in today's economy that people want to buy what they can have then and now. Unfortunately, a lot of what does or doesn't get made depends on those very same preorders.
I'm a lifelong Lost in Space fan. I have all of the figures thus far and will get each that comes out. I truly hope that the line becomes complete.

These are good ideas, but from what I understand not as easy to pull off as you might think. I want to make this clear. I have nothing to do with this project other than my wife and I were hired to do the prototype sculpts and paintmasters for the heads and some accessories. We were not involved in the planning or decession making whatsoever. Currently we are no longer even working for these clients. I know they don't visit message boards so I just offered some information. Initially I believe the plan was to roll over the sales of each figure so that when it came time to make Penny and Will the capital would be there to pay for the tooling of unique bodies so that all the figures would be in scale. I distinctly remember that Will was planned for the tail end and was going to be a two pack with the robot. This would have been the most expensive figures to produce so putting it towards the end seemed like a good call. In the case of Maureen I believe they tried to get the factory to use a body they could source from another supplier, but their prefered factory balked at doing that. That's why they had to do Maureen through a different factory. I give these guys major props for thier endurance. Who else would keep pushing to finish a line they started? Companies like Hot Toys give up on lines that do not sell as well as they want. Any company has to watch the bottom line but I prefer to spend my money with smaller companies who are passionate enough about what they are doing to go the extra mile. We had the space pod in our shop for quite awhile. We are a two person operation and I just couldn't make enough time to finish the first batch. Someone else has been given that project and I look forward to seeing it completed. It is an awesome piece and Norm and his team did an excellant job of recreating the pod in 1/6th scale. As a collector myself I am hopeful that a few more boutique type companies like SFM and ER will come along and offer figures at reasonable prices that no one else will do. Really wish someone would start doing scaled bodies for shorter adults/teenagers/kids as will as taller and heavier bodies that are readily available. I realize it is tough to commit to a line that has several characters, but not supporting the producer almost guarentees that all the figures will not be made. Thanks for listening.
