Classic Lost in Space 12" figures

Definitely early 2000's. They actually showcased the prototypes at Wonderfest and I about sharted when I first laid eyes on them. The buzz was big back then too. But somewhere along the way they just fell off the planet and after two initial releases they disappeared. So many figures prototyped that never got made. I picked up the only one I really wanted and that was John Robinson. Not perfect, but plenty close enough that I'm happy to have him. Not sure what the story was behind their collapse, but it would be interesting to know. My best guess is sales simply weren't good enough for them to afford another release. But something about that theory doesn't gel, because I've never seen a big lot of them out there. And I never saw a discount run either, so there must not have been much of a surplus to sell off. And actually you can still find them pretty cheap. Those examples above are high end. A casual search revealed two JR's for $59.99 and $69.99 a piece. But you should have seen the stuff they were planning. A full scale Jupiter 2 was in the works. I need to find the pics I took of that stuff. It was freakin' amazing. Tragic it never got made.Last edited by MIB41; Apr 5, '12, 4:42 PM.Comment

I don't think this line is dead and the company didn't go out of business. I think they switched gears & concentrated on the Dr. Smith bust. Amok Time still has Jon Robinson, Dr. Smith & The Keeper at regular prices. Maureen is out of stock but Don West is listed as pre-order:

Other projects-some still in development:

Absence_Update
Hello to all,
First, let me take this time to thank all of you who have stood behind me for the last 5 years. A lot has happened which many of you are not even aware. Scifimetropolis has never gone out of business, but it has been a rocky road...
I am offering this information so that my absence will be understood and not just rumor. I just wanted the fans to know why I was gone. I will try and keep this brief but a certain amount of detail is required to explain. Putting everything into perspective, I'm just glad I'm still here.
A few years ago I sustained a serious life threatening injury to my head and back, caused by an over head door coming down and driving me to the floor. Which put me out of commission for almost 3 years. The injury left me with some long and short term memory issues and nerve damage in my back. That plus the fact that this happened while I was moving to a larger facility really put me in a difficult position. Due to the injury, a long rehab process and having to get the new shop setup when possible proved to be a daunting task. I could have done as many others in the past have and just closed up shop, but I don’t believe in quitting.
I am very fortunate that most of the memory issues from the head trauma have healed and the nerve damage is treatable with medication.
We are currently finishing the last order for a backorder customer. That brings Scifimetropolis current and up to date. I was determined to not offer or come out with new merchandise until I had fulfilled my obligations to my existing customers. Obviously, I had to put many projects on hold during that period of time. Many of them partially completed, some of them almost ready to be unveiled.
Presently I am doing better and I am beginning to work on some really exciting projects both Lost in Space related and projects for other companies. In the next few weeks I will be posting images and updates on a regular basis to make sure that I keep everyone up to date on what we are working on.
Hopefully my unintentional absence from prop and replica making hasn't deterred any of you from coming back to see us. Please be sure to check the site often as we will be posting quite a few projects over the coming months.
Thanks,
Norman Sockwell

It seems Maureen was either made in very small quantities or was a big sell-out hit to be so scarce. Hopefully he'll make more. Perhaps even use a variant costume.Last edited by johnmiic; Apr 6, '12, 3:34 PM.Comment

I'll definitely pick up Don West whenever he comes out. He's kind of Robin to John Robinson's Batman. But the others I will collect only once I know they intend to produce all the characters. On that scale, I don't want a partial display if I start getting the family members.Comment
