I love Rose ..... but if she comes back before a 50th anniversary story i will scream.
just like i hate that Amy and Rory will be in episodes this year. They had a fine ending last year, let them rest until the 50 ann. as well.
I would love to see an older Doctor again , but as said here they won't go there and risk the ratings.

Dr Who gets a new companion

The older doctors also tended to have male companions as well didn't they? Someone who can do action scenes.
I understand that Harry was initially cast because they were thinking of going with an older actor to play the Doctor number four, but when Tom Baker was cast, he ended up being redundant? Not that the initial straight man comedy of that first episode wasn't enjoyable, but I guess not sustainable.
As charismatic as Captain Jack Harkness is, again redundantly roguish given that he was paired with the more roguish of Doctors as well as arguable one of the more physical of the Doctors.
LOVED the dynamic between Tennant and Donna's grandfather though. I wish could have gone one for longer (not within the episode, which seemed like an eternity for the death scene... i meant across more episodes).
Rory turned out to be quite good at calling out The Doctor on his bullstuff. Some very memorable episodes where Rory gets to be the one pointing out the emperor might not have clothes.Leave a comment:

I still say it'll be time for an older actor to assume the role of the Doctor once Smith ends his tenure.
The dynamic of a younger companion/older Doctor is something that's been missing for a long while.Leave a comment:

My favourite companions of the relaunch is Donna and Rory the Roman, so you know where I lean. I think the Doctor works best when he has a kind of companion that serves as a foil rather than as a sounding board... Like Ramona, k-9, Leela, Ace, even the brigadier all served as counterpoints to a certain extent that challenged different aspects of the Doctors beliefs and values. I wish Turlough had been much more effective as an antagonistic companion. I think NOT taking The Master as a companion was a hugely wasted opportunity for conflict in the Tardis... Especially the manic way John Simm played the character.
However, I do think part of the reason why the new series of Doctor Who has become way more popular than the original and higher in the ratings is because of the romance they have added in. For the simple matter of an increased female audience.
Just see the girls/young women going gaga over David Tennant or Matt Smith at conventions (which is probably why, I'm sorry to say, we will not be having any old dudes or funny looking guys like Sylvester McCoy playing the role any time soon).
I've personally witnessed my own spouse getting hooked on Doctor Who because of the episode The Girl Who Waited, and this is after she had already watched, and had absolutely no interest in episodes with Cybermen and Daleks running around and shooting. And this s a woman who professes to hating "chick flicks".Last edited by samurainoir; Mar 23, '12, 2:38 PM.Leave a comment:

I'm all for pretty girls but i'm getting a little tired of everyone coming from the present.
I'd like to see someone from the past travel with the doctor --
Modern girls are getting kinda boring.
It would be neat to see the Doctor pick up someone from the 60's or 70'sLast edited by Mikey; Mar 23, '12, 1:56 PM.Leave a comment:

Hey, it would be awesome if Jamie became a companion again or at least the Doctor visits him for one adventure (it would also be cool if he remembered all of his adventures with the Doctor, since the Time Lords have bitten it)...Great suggestion, guys.
I like the idea of the new lady companion being gay, that way she wouldn't be fawning all over the Doctor like nearly every other female companion in the new series has (I loved Donna and she didn't fall for the Doctor, thank the gods).

A older Jamie would rock. The youngters these days may not catch on though.Or Heaven forbid, a man!
I really liked the chemistry between Tennant and Bernard Cribbins, for example. Do we have to focus the whole line-up at one age group every time?
If it has to be her, why not make her gay?
Break down those barriers. If we can handle killers robots and two-headed aliens, we can surely handle a gay character, right?
Or perhaps the Doctor can travel in time and pick up a previous companion, like Jamie, but much later down his timeline...Leave a comment:
