Fox has a HUGE history of giving up on Sci-Fi shows. Anyone remember Firefly or Space Above and Beyond. There are more in other genres like Millenium. Sliders was great on Fox and died when it left fox or got cancelled by Fox. My advice to anyone with a Sci-Fi show is to stay away from Fox if you want your show to succeed.
"When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

i watched the show, but kept hoping it would get better. it just moved along too slow, not enough dinosaurs. i knew it would not last. Spielberg just does not have a good track record on TV

But I think part of that is because FALLING SKIES is on TNT where they're not quite as constrained by the limitations of the big four....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Wait a second, fella! Are you saying Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was bad? Them are fightin' words....if I didn't agree with you 100%. Seems like Spielberg is trading in on his name to grab a few more (millions of) $$$.

When it was first announced, I was excited - mainly due to David Fury's involvement (one of the best writers out their (in TV land)). Then he left due to the old creative differences and my brain went "oh-oh". I suffered through the first 3 episodes and the rest of me agreed with my brain, so I stopped watching. I could have lived with the whole 90210-B.C., if the writing (and special effects) were strong - they weren't. Oh well...David

I think the last show I watched on a weekly basis was Friday Night Lights and that's only because it associated so closely with lives of our kids and the adults we know. That whole environment was completely real in every way. And that was the first time I watched a show every week in probably 20 years. I had little runs with Smallville, but it never lasted. I just don't see a lot of interesting story lines on television anymore.

No surprise. Anyone else remember going to the movies theater last year and having the previews for this show jammed down your throat in every single "First Look" spot all Summer long. Those previews were enough to tell me this show wasn't for me and once I saw that it was on Fox, I knew it was doomed.

Well, my 18 year old will be very, very ticked. FOX has now cancelled two of his favorite shows. Firefly AND Terra Nova.

BTW, I don't think it coincidence that many of the characters of Terra Nova had names from Firefly.

Do'h! That sucks, but I totally expected it.
I didn't love the show (I'm usually not into Swiss Family Robinson/Lost in Space family setups), but I did look forward to the ongoing saga each week.

The heavy effects laden sci-fi, fantasy, horror oddities never seem to last on the main-ish networks.
Remember Surface, Invasion, Night Stalker, Legend of the Seeker (for example)? Those would have been interesting to see go further too. *SIGH*

Those were excellent shows. At least Space Above somehow made it past one season...barely.

If TNT ever thinks about cancelling Falling Skies, them's fightin' words. Love that show.

Fox and NBC are the worst for not giving a show a decent chance of surviving. At least it's not as bad as UPN, who back in 1999 cancelled Mercy Point after only 3 episodes.

Fox gets a raw deal by the fanbois... it cancels a lot more geeky shows because it greenlights a lot more geeky shows.

I could say something about Fox and forward-looking viewpoints, especially those who bring up corporate greed, but I'll reserve those sentiments because this is a Sci Fi topic, not politics.
